Help, slow frame rate 3DMark2001

Okay, reloaded 4in1 (4.3), DX8.0a, and nvidia 21.83.
Changed from 1x AGP to 4X.

Been pulling my hair out for three days.

At 1024x768 16bbp, I only get 4533 score, where as typical numbers on MadOnion show +10k.
Any ideas?

Download NVmax and be sure to turn Vsync off, set texture filtering to use Nearest Point, turn AA off, and see how far you can overclock the video card. It also a good idea to tweak your motherboard BIOS. A great guide can be found here:

This is what kills me- I've got a GF3 and don't expect to score 10K+. Look at the settings the HIGH scoring rigs use- 16bit, low resolution etc.... If you want to see how your system stacks up, compare only to default benchmarks. Highest default benchmark for a GF3 is roughly 7500- not 10K+. Compare your card to other cards using the same processor type. The average for a GF3 is 5400- I'm consistently able to score over the average with any card I use by tweaking the rig. Do you have a DDR mobo?? Are you OC'ing the FSB?? Running XP/98/Me?? All of these factor into your score. Dont get caught up in the numbers game- look at the facts/settings under the scores you are comparing to. .

Are you running the GF3 Ti200 at stock speeds? (175/400) Increasing these speeds will help to increase your score.
I haven't tried the 1024x768x16bpp test, but on the default 1024x768x32bpp I am able to score +9100 3dmarks with a highly oc'ed GF3 Ti500(260/590).

I think with my old GF3 Ti200 I was able to get into +7000 area and that was running it at 250/472.

Actually, the highest default benchmark score is with a regular GF3. Although, the guy did mod his mobo to increase the voltage to the GF3 and he put pelts and a waterblock on it. He was running the GF3 at about 305/670, I think. He also did the same thing for his Athlon XP to run it at +2ghz!!! He scored +11000 on the default benchmark.

Your suffering from benchmark envy My advice to you is if your card scores are average for your set up then don't sacrifice image quality and color depth just to post a higher score. Your card @default is smoking already with most anything you likely run so relax and enjoy your GF3 because many of us don't have one.....yet

i think he was just saying that the highest score on a default clocked geforce3 with that processor is about 7500, not that the highest score ever on the default benchmark was 7500. by the way, my scores with the 21.83's really sucked when compared to the 22.5 detenators. go to www.icrontic.com and try the 22.5's. it might fix your problem.

But if you look at the wording it says:
"Highest default benchmark for a GF3 is roughtly 7500- not 10K+."

I don't see any Highest default benchmark for a non-oc'ed GF3 in there.
Besides Jarhead is using a GF3 Ti200, not a regular GF3.

In the D3D tab of your vid cards properties applet:
Disable Vsync
Mip map level "Best Performance" instead of best quality

Benchmark again.

Gf3 regular, highest attained by me, 8201 default bench.

Let me clarify my earlier post- I left out one piece of info. I was comparing default benchmarks of only GF3's (OC'ed or not OC'ed) with between a 1000-1200mhz processor. I am running an 1100mhz tbird, and wanted to compare apples to apples. I stand behing my earlier statement- the highest default benchmark for a GF3 (using a 1000- 1200mhz CPU) is ~ 7500 link. Sorry for the confusion and somewhat mis-stating what I meant.

I only get about 6500 at 1024x768x32 with image quality set at highest (no FSAA) on a visiontek ti200 @215/450. Yet what I find nice is i still get a score of around 5100 @ 1600x1200x32 + max everything (no FSAA) settings on a non overclocked 1.3 ghz tbird. Apparently I got a ti200 from an earlier batch that only has 5ns mem....gonna exchange it at BB when they get a new shipment in and hope for a good one
