I have ran out of space, bought some new hard drives, now I'm wondering what to do with them. Can you help me out?
Current setup:
4x 1.5tb drives in RAID5, 2 arrays (205GB "Short Stroked", 3.89TB)
Backed up to 2x 2tb sata drives occasionally.
Windows 7 ultimate x64
I just purchased:
3x 2tb USB 3.0 drives (and a usb 3.0 card)
1x 2tb sata drive.
I would like to add 2x 2tb internal drives (or 3 in raid5 but i'm leaning towards just backing them up more often and forgetting about raid for the new 2tb drives), and then use the usb 3.0 drives for a weekly backup.
If I go this route, anyone know of a good backup software that will handle backing up the 3-4 partitions to 3 external drives, and preferably with some sort of incremental scheme to prevent having to do an entire 5tb+ copy every week.
I am also open to other suggestions for using my hardware, such as installing Windows Home server, Windows Storage Server, or server 2008 r2 if necessary (all free via MSDN). Online "cloud" backup is not an option because of bandwidth constraints.
What do you all think?
