Help: UC undergraduate admission final low grades

Wow. I've really screwed up big time. I have a high possibility of getting a D in AP economics because I f*cked myself up on the final. Right now I am scared shitless that I will get my admissions at UCLA revoked. I already talked to my teacher but he's a real dick and he won't help me out on anything. I feel like i just wasted my whole life. I'm trying to grasp any last bit of hope i can get.

I don't think they'll revoke you. Can't you take it over the summer to make up for it at a local junior college?

I've never heard of anyone revoking your admission into a college because of one grade. Maybe if you had failed all your classes the final 6 weeks, then a definite possibility, but never over one grading period

er i think the rule is if you get below a 2.5 on your final semester then you are simply put on probably for the fall semester

at some UCs you need to maintain a GPA above a certain level

my friend almost diddnt make into UCSD because her gpa almost fell below 3.0 her senior year.. luckily it diddnt.

How are the grades in the rest of your classes? Isn't Economics one of the UC required classes?

I don't think it's that bad. It's not like you don't have a second chance... or a third... Besides, I doubt that they're quick to revoke admissions.

I'm trying to grasp any last bit of hope i can get.

Grasping for hope sounds unhealthy. Isn't that like hoping for hope? I'd be trying to grasp extra points on the econ final.

i dunno. I'm a mathematics major. I did very well in all math related classes/SAT subjects.

There is no way I can "hope" for extra points. I already talked to him and basically what he said was "you fvcked yourself over." He was right.

so your GPA is going to drop below 3? tough to tell. I've never heard of someone's admission getting revoked. Did you do very well on your SATs? A 3.0 alone didn't get you in, so maybe the other stuff will carry you through.

OOOOHO they can revoke you. I was at the housing office once and saw this fat stack of letters of people who had their admissions revoked because they either lied about their grades or could not keep their GPA up.

is your teacher a real mean person to everyone? does he not do anything to help anyone? any conditions you can help argue that attribute to you getting a d besides laziness? are you going to take the ap exam?

ask the teacher again, nicely, i wasn't feeling great or something on the final, and if you can retake. agree that the max grade you can get is going to be lower than an a because it is a retake. above all be calm, polite, and maybe a tad desperate. If he knows the UCLA situation he may be a little more willing to help.

You think that's mean. My teacher in High School said he would not just give bad grade, but also write a letter to UC admission board to specifically ask them to revoke admissions for seniors who slacked off. I think he did it a couple times too.

He's well aware of my situation. He wont do anything. Yeh I took the AP exam and I'm hoping to get a 5. But thats no explanation for my laziness. Actually I was doing well in the class till I screwed up the final.

Oh well, it's not like going to UCLA is going to make you a millionaire. The most important thing is what you do with your career. Most places could care less where you came from. The only want to know what your experience is and what you can do for them right now.

Not to be the pessmist...but I have a friend who lost a very sizeable scholarship to Carnegie Melon University because he got a D in AP Spanish. I'm not sure if the admission was revoked, but he is no longer planning on attending that school because of cost.
