Help updating chipset inf

I have an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard. I was looking to update the inf file when I found two different things.

ASRock's website provides inf version 9.4.0.1027 in the form of a .zip which I have no idea what to do with.

Intel's website provides the same version in the form of their Intel® Chipset Device Software
I also found this, but it says version 9.4.0.1026. Just an older version?

I'm guessing those are the same thing, but Intel's version is less hassle?

How do I identify the chipset without downloading one of Intel's annoying utilities so I can just do it manually?

If you click on the specs page of your link, ASRock says its an Intel z77 chipset.. if you need more specifics I'm sure your manual says, or the online manual.

I use to do what your doing, download from each indeviduel chip manufactures site.. however learned its a little wiser to use the one provided by your board manufacturer, because the ones from the chipset manufacturer are universal, the drivers from the board manufacture might be tuned specificly for your board... although they may not be. If your curiouse if they actaully differ you can do a crc hash of both driver files for compairison instead of manually checking the files, md5 is commonly used for checksum.

I'm not sure why you say you dont know what to do with the zip downloaded from ASrock? If its because you dont want to use the Setup.exe they provided in the zip?, you could open devicemanager go to properties of your IDE/ATA chipset and use the Update driver function and manually browse to the folder for the driver you downloaded... I also believe you can rightclick on indevidual INF files and there is an INSTALL dropdown there, however you need to know what INF exactly you need for that last note.. win7/8 may have other options i dont know of, im not familiar with them.
