here's the situation..
i will boot up w/ my 1ghz tbird and iwill, and it will post just fine. but after the initial screen it goes blank, as if there was no post. i run my brother's duron in my iwill and everything is perfect. he runs my tbird in his a7v133 and it runs perfect. whats going on??? i test all my components individually in his setup, and they are all flawless. so i figure for now i'll just use his duron so i have something up to use. i try to install windows and constantly get protection errors. i fdisk and format a few times and still same thing. he tries my HDD in his setup and windows installs just fine. we then try his HDD w/ windows loaded already and we get protection error again. so there's nothing wrong w/ my HDD cuz it detects and runs fine in his setup, but not mine. in my setup it detects as 2 gigs, but in his at 30 gigs (which it should be). so basically my tbird won't run in my system, hdd detects at wrong size, and keep getting windows protection error when installing windows.. these probs ONLY occur in my setup, not his. did i get a defective mobo????? please HELP~!

If all the other components works flawlessly in your brother's system, I think you may have gotten a defective board... Which Rev is the KK266? Was there any oc'ing involved...?

the board is rev 1.2

there was no overclocking involved, although the chip is avia and can do 1.33. but of course i wanna make sure everything booted up fine before i oc'ed at all, so it was set at default.

anyone??

whats a c tbird? i have a 1ghz avia that is default 200 fsb but can do 266

i tested the ram on my bro's computer and werks fine. detects fine in my own setup before the blank screen and i used it for a month before in my old setup. i also bought a new 300w psu.. its generic but i think it should do the job, at least for now. i even tried my brother's 300w psu which runs his duron and a lot of other stuff and it didnt fix the problem.

i RMA'd the board once, but i think that one wasn't faulty.. i just had a bad psu. but this one i'm thinking is defective cuz i tested everything. the auto-detect for the hdd is wrong too, which i can't explain. think i mite just take to iwill tech support and have them set it up.

any other suggestions? or i prob juss have a defective board?

A C Tbird is 266 fsb and a B tibird is 200 fsb. Did you try and clear the CMOS! if not try it.Also not all 300 wat ps will work. What slot are you putting the ram in.The manual is kind of flaky. Most BSOD are caused by cheap ram or the wrong settings.Clear youre CMOS and then load the defaulft in the bios.I doubt that the board is bad as the first one wasnt either Good Luck

You might check your problem at Amdmb.com Forums (dedicated IWill forum). They have a big group of enthusiastic IWillers + a comprehensive FAQ they put together. Can't believe they couldn't solve the problem short of an RMA. Good luck!

First of all, excuse for my english.. and I would like to share my expreience but not sure it could help you. I had a similar problem as you when i first installed my KK266. it hanged everywhere..when setting the BIOS, Fdisking, installing WinME. Then I took it back to the dealer but very strange that they run it prefectly in front of me. The only differece between us was they only put the motherboard on the table and test it. but I only run it after it installed into the case. I have no choice and take it back to home and tried to do the same as the dealer. and....it run great!!! oh my god! suddenly i came up with something like shortcircuits issues... but it shouldn't be my case problem as I've installed several motherboard in the same case and all worked fine. then I put some plastic tape cover all copper stands on the base of the case. and install the board once again.... thanks god! it works prefectly then.... later on, my friend also bought KK266 and faced same problem as me. of course. he did the same little work as i did and the problem just go off!!

I hope it could help you.
