Hi guys,
I really need your HELP~~
I have a Win2k (Professional version), and it won't boot. Here is what happened...
I formatted my new Harddrive, and installed the Win2k. It worked fine so far, but I got an error message w/ blue screen after I installed the Service Pack 2. It says
"STOP: 0x0000007B (0x820340B0,0xC0000185,0x00000000,0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

I knew that it was something wrong w/ Service Pack2. So I restarted it as safe mode, and uninstalled the SP2. It works fine if I don't install it. I even installed the 4in1(4.32), but the problem still remain. What am I supposed to do now?
Please help me out here.
Thanks for your help.

Here is spec of system:
AMD T-bird 1.4ghz
EPOX Ep-8K7A
IBM 40gb
Crucial 512mb PC2100
Gainward Geforce 2 GTS Pro 64mb

I've had this error before but it was on a Maxtor Drive. Your IBM probably has two pins - you only need one to set it to master - look it up on the diagrams on the drive. This should get you booting.

I just took a look at the IBM HD, there are 3 difference types of Master mode.
What's difference b/w 16 Heads master mode & 15 Heads master mode?
It also has 32GB Clip Device 0 (Master mode).
Which mode should I set this up?
Please LMK.
Thank you.

That is a good question. You should be able to view the # of heads for the drive by going into the BIOS and running a Hard Drive scan - be sure to not change the pins from what you had them. Also it may list the number of heads/sectors on the top of the drive itself.

I'd guess 16, but I'd also guess on the diagram that lists only on jumper being used.

Best of luck,

Similiar Problem here, and my solution was:

Used a Win98 Startup disk, then:

a:\>fdisk /mbr

Reboot Normally.

Hey, it worked for me. Your Drive will have the head information on it. Set the jumpers accordingly.

Mercutio11,

Checkhere
to see if you have the jumpers configured correctly. Do you have another device on the same IDE controller as the hard drive? If so, make sure the other device is set to slave. Good Luck!
