I've spent at least 4-6 hours Googling and attempting some of the various "fixes" on the Net for my issues, and finally frustration has set in.
Firstly, I receive the following error message when I try to start PG2 RC1 Test (except it's all in English).
There are a number of fixes available here.
I'd rather not use Ready Driver Plus, since it's pretty invasive insofar as it is a full-on "hack". Also, I'd like to keep UAC on, so using Test Sign Mode isn't ideal either.
That leaves me with the "F8 solution" (disabling driver signature checks). This does indeed work for me, but I'd like to streamline the process. Could anyone help me write code for a .bat file to execute this command?
So far, I have the following code saved to a batch file:
Unfortunately, this does not seem to work, whereas manually choosing to disable the signed driver check through the F8 boot menu does work. I am probably just making a syntactical error, so would someone please point it out?
On to iTunes, and I suspect this is going to be the more troublesome of the two problems...
Actually, I just sorted that out. To anyone who was Googling furiously for an answer, I have iTunes x64 8.2.1.6 + 5th generation iPod + Windows 7 RC x64 fully updated as of 8/28/09.
I simply ran iTunes under Vista SP2 compatibility and with Administrator privileges. It successfully syncs my iPod, so this should do the trick for anyone who was receiving the "unable to locate disk" error or a hanging iTunes when attempting to access the iPod.
One problem down, one to go!
