Help with Abit TH7-II RAID

Hi Everyone,

My first post, and I have a major problem. I just purchased an Abit TH7-II RAID board, says 79 on the sticker for BIOS revision. A Northie 1.6a SL668 cpu, and 2-256 Corsair RAMBUS chips. I get error 13 on the debug LED. I thought maybe it was the ram, went and bought 2 128 meg sticks, same thing. I cleared the CMOS, changed the dipswitch settings nothing changed. Error 13 is reserved, so that tells me nothing. Anyone else ever get this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated. I will try calling Abit to see what this could be. Thanks in advance.

That I know of there's no bios v79. The latest offical bios is v38. You can get it HERE. Make sure follow the directions for flashing the bios HERE. Make sure that the dipswitches are set right.

Synth17, I really wish I could flash it, the sticker on the CNR says 03, and 79, and those are suppose to be the BIOS version that is on it. I can't get past the LED debug code of 13 when it POST's.

Synth, I looked at that site, my sticker looks different, I don't have Revision on it, only the 79 with a circle on it.

Just, make sure that the dipswitches are set right (like in the manual). And double check all your connections on the mobo.

Do you have the RDRAM installed in the correct slots? Identical sticks have to be in either the first 2 or the second 2 slots. Not one stick in each set. Also, I assume you put CRIMMS in the empty slots. Just checking!

Synth17, First of all Thanks for the welcome and for replying. I have set all dipswitches to default and tried virtually every combination. I only have Video, CPU, RAM installed so far. And keep getting that LED 13 error and no further. I've also cleared the CMOS several times. Still no go.

Well, sorry I couldn't help you out more. I think you will need to call Abit on this one.

Sexyk, yes I put in the 2 RDRAM in the first 2 slots, labled 1a and 1b, and the crimms in 2a and 2b. Even tried the opposite, still no go

Well, I think the BIOS that came with your board may not support Northwood. You don't happen to have access to a Old Willy P4 to try to get it running and flash to the new BIOS do you? There have been other threads on this problem I think, do a search in the OC forum and you may find something. Goodluck.

You have to flash the bios to ver 38. I have the same setup and I had to do that before I could use my Northwood. It kind of sucks but check with a local computer store to see if they have a regular P4.

Fitch, Thanks alot, I will try to get a local shop to "lend" me a willamette to do that with. Were you getting the same 13 error on the LED before you did that?
