Help with Access Dlookup code

Im trying to right a "simple" database to keep track of inventory.
I can find anything in plain english to help with this dlookup command.
I just want to make a simple form that when I select the item # it will goto the other
database and pull up the name ect...

Here is the what the 2 db look like:

DB 1:

Inventory Items:

Item Number
Item Name
Retail Price
Wholesale Price

DB 2:

Current Inventory:

Item Number <- this is the box on the form
Quanity in Inventory



What I would like the dlookup do is when i change the item number to pull up the name and retail price.
Could someone show me what the code would be for this. Ill be getting an access book monday thats for sure.

You mean tables right? And is there any reason why you need two of them? Inventory Quantity should really belong in Inventory Items and it seems like you're making things more complex than they need to be.

dlookup do is when i change the item number to pull up the name and retail price.

You need something like dlookup ("[retail price]", "inventory items", "[item number]=[inventory items].[item number]")

Yea, your probably right about having just 1 table for that info, but I am going to be changing the quanity on hand.
I started trying to figure out how to change that 1 field without impacting the rest of the table yet. I really gotta get a
better book than what I have. (Old Access 97 book)
