i have this case (except i have plexi-glass on the side), as you can tell there is only one fan in the back and one mounted on top, nothing in the front. my case and CPU temps suck: 46 C for the CPU IDLE (1700+, not oced, slk800 with Smart Fan II), and case temps are 27 C WITH THE SIDE PANEL OFF. what can i do to improve airflow without cutting my case? thanx

I've run into a similiar problem with a 6070 case. My strategy has been to get a 'Super Duper Slot Fan' from www.3dcool.com and suck some video card heat out. Read some reviews, it sounds as though it can help out alot. I bought mine on EBay and hope to have it arriving in the mail by the end of the week. If you haven't done anything by then dig up this thread and I'll let you know how it worked out.

THat's probably the only thing it could do well... provided it sits right next to your videocard...

Hilarious. I don't think I'm willing to resort to the desktop-fan-active-cooling-system, I'll be happy if I just get it down a few more degrees to an idle temp of 37-38. I'm optimistic that the slot fan will do the trick. All the reviews I've read suggest a drop of at least a few degrees in similiar case temperatures, and they run very quiet. But the best part, they're CHEAP!

I recently had my second board and a mix of new and old components into my Antec case. I realized I used too much AS3 on my other board and when removed it was a bit of a mess. It was cleaned with nail polish remover, and a THIN layer was put on it after putting it in my MSI KT3 Ultra2 board and the volcano 9 reseated on the cpu. The new (2/29/03) BIOS reports my 2100+ as a mobile athlon xp 1700+ but no harm done. The FSB is set to 151 or 152 btw

When I checked the temperatures I was IMPRESSED! The CPU temp ranges from 31.5 to 34 C (89 to 93 F ) , the case temp wasn't too far behind. and these readings are from a closed case. I also got at least 10k 3dmarks over about 4800 with my old K7S5A board

I am having an AC put in my room this summer so the temp should remain the same or drop even more.

I notice there's a whole big side panel just waiting for 2 120 mm fan holes to be cut

I don't know just how skilled at it you might be (or not), but they cut holes right in the acryllic windows and mount fans right to the window.

Edit- as far as removing the side panel, fans in the side would do more to pull the heat off, or push more air onto the board and cpu, than just removing the panel. My wife's pc is overheating as I type this, and I've got the side panel off, slot fan, big old loud (old as dirt) cpu fan, couple case fans, and it's still at 72 degrees celcius, crashing all the time. The case sucks for airflow. I guess it might also be her old Athlon T-Bird 1Ghz from 1999 or so :Q

yup, choices are cut away and have a nice cool system, a lot more trouble of course. or install insane rpm fans and blare music to cover the racket its a pretty case, but the wrong one if you care that much about cooling. 46c is not the end of the world at all, its quite acceptable. don't fret over a 30~ dollar (and rapidly dropping) cpu
