Help with an FDC port

i have an abit ka7 and when i attach a floppy drive to it the bios detects the drive, but it is not accessable. also, the green light on the drive stays on constantly. I tried replacing the drive, checking the power and direction of the cables with no luck, anyone have any suggestions?

i am superduper sure, but i reversed it just incase i was having a mommentary lack of intelligence

Its happened to me countless times when the light is always on but the drive doesn't work. I just reversed the cable and it worked perfectly. Strange how it doesn't work for you...

maybe one of those strange FDD options in the BIOS is on for you? (like mode 3 or something?)

Red Stripe to the left when looking at the pins of the floppy.

If the cable has a twist in the end make sure that goes towards the drive.
Make sure the bios is set to 1.4MB and the Read/Write option is selected.
