I need some help regarding the power connection on an Asus A8n-E motherboard. There is the standard ATX type connector as well as another 4 pin connector. What is this extra 4 pin connector for?

Are you supposed to plug power into both? or one or the other.

My power supply is a 400w Coolermax ATX.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you will need to plug in the 24 Pin ATX Connector and the 4 Pin Connector to supply adequate Power to you MB.

The 4 Pin Connector goes by the CPU Slot, towards the back of the MB (Mouse, Keyboard, Ports, etc.)

Thanks for the info....that is what I assumed but didn't want to fry the MB by doing something stupid.

Also...if you are installing dual channel ram do you install both pieces in the same bank?

The manual talks about splitting it up but I don't think they are referring to dual channel.

Okay, looking at your MB, if it's anything like mine (should be), then you need to put the two RAM sticks in the Blue slots (1 & 3). It will work if you put it in 1 & 2, but it won't be "Dual Channel".

I know this from personel experience

Also, while I'm thinking about it. I couldn't find the Model PSU you mentioned. I just want to make sure that your ATX Connector is 24 Pins and not 20 Pins. If it's only 20 Pins, it's an older Model and there are different connection options.

Thanks for the info on installing the memory....I would have had it wrong.

The PS is a Coolermax 400B. I have'nt even taken it out of the box but if it is like the previous one that I bought it has an adapter to make the 20 a 24 or vice versa.

Thanks again for all the info.

Looks like it's SATA compatible, so it should be relatively new.

Just make sure you use the 24 Pin config, and then there should be another 4 Pin that will still need to be plugged in by the Processor Slot.

Your Memory would've worked, it just wouldn't have performed as well. This is how I figured that I had it wrong initially - the Manual is a bit confusing on this . . . .

Best of luck with your new System
