Help with brand new P4S533!

I finally got my parts in the other day: Asus P4S533, 1.6a, and Samsung 512MB PC2700.
I spent last night messing with this thing trying to get it to work and I can't! The mobo LED comes on and the on-board LAN link light comes on, but when I hit the power switch, I get nothing. No beeps, no voice, nada. I tried pulling off everything, extra cards, no power on the drives, no IDE cables and it still wouldn't even turn on. I also double checked all the jumper settings and they looked ok except for the Keyboard spacebar power on setting. I disabled that since I don't know if my PS supports that.
I put all my old components back in the case and it works fine. The only different items from this setup is the new stuff listed above.

The P4S533 has the extra P4 power supply connecter, but since I don't have a P4 ps, I used the ATX connector and one drive connector. My PS is a 300w Power Man PS that came with the InWin Q500 case. Maybe it's not strong enough?

Anyone have any clues to my problem? Your helps is mucho appreciated!

The ATX connector with one standard drive power connector should be fine. Your 300W PSU should also be more than adequate.

I'd be willing to bet that the mobo is shorting to the case. To make sure, try powering up the mobo while it's not in the case. Just connect the power connectors and the video card and you should be able to get into the BIOS if that was the trouble.

If that works, try using fiber or nylon washers between the mobo and the mounting standoffs in the case.

Thanks, Thugs, but I didn't do a search because I remember reading those threads while researching what board to get. I will look again, but I thought their problems were because of not connecting things right (as in all connectors instead of just the atx/p4). Anyway, I will look.

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a shot.

Sometimes when swaping a MB, the new boards mounting holes location are fewer than the old board. This leaves a standoff mount contacting the new board where no hole is present.
As long as the standoffs match the motherboard mounting holes, insulated washers should not be necessary.
Be sure the video card is fully seated but I thing the board will beep without it
Check the CMOS clear jumper for the correct position, powering the board in the clear position could trash the BIOS.
Clear the CMOS in any event and try again.

Dude, the same thing happen to me. I could get it to boot sometime. When i did got it running I had the fsb max out with my 1.6a, but the pci and agp were running really high so it was not stable. WinXp kept checking the hard drive with scandisk. I RMA it to newegg and they said they don't sell it anymore. What a bunch of lairs!!! They jacked the price up and didn't want to sell one to me cause I got it when it was $99. This was like a month ago, does anyone know what a good board to get to replace the one i returned?

Thanks
