4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

None

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

No

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Not sure yet

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

This summer

The E8400 is a newer and better processor for only a few bucks more. That RAM is also more than you need to spend. If you decide you want to overclock, DDR2-1000 is plenty, and G.Skill has a good DDR2-1000 kit for right around $80. If you aren't overclocking, then DDR2-800 is more than fast enough and can be had for $65 or less after rebate.

The power supply is more than you need unless you're expecting to go Crossfire, but that won't hurt anything.

 I rate it a 3.75 out of 10 for two reasons...
1. It lacks originality
2. The CPU is old news and not even a good price.

When you up the X2 5400+ to 3.1-3.2GHz or the e2200 to 2.7-2.8GHz (either with stock cooling and maybe a slight bump in voltage) you will have 2 'snappy' systems with a video card that's smokin'

The e7200 will soon be $113 (or the new e5200 in the $80-$90 range) are possible options.

For the high end I have to disagree with HHBB. C2D is where it's at in the price range you're considering.

But DSF is right, the e6750 is a dated processor. Instead, get the e8400 (3GHz, 6MB cache) for $190 or else the e7200 (2.53GHz, 3MB cache) for $130.

The P5Q Pro is a really nice board that will support Crossfire if you want to go that route eventually.

And I would personally go with the VisionTek HD4850 as they offer a lifetime warranty on their cards (these guys are the best of the ATi board partners).
