Help with DVI problem

I recently purchased a DVI-D equipped monitor, and I already had a DVI-I equipped Video Card (Nvidia FX 5200 to be exact). I purchased a Dual DVI-D cable to connect the two based on several google searches. I got the cable today, and after connecting monitor to computer and powering up, I got no signal. I checked the connections again and still nothing. My Analog has been working fine, and this is the kicker, when I hook both cables up at the same time, Nvidia recognizes two monitors(even though it is one) but if I try to switch to what I assume is the DVI based signal, I get the "searching for signal" message and then nothing. Obviously the cable is good, and the connection from the video card is good as well as the connection to the monitor because the "second" monitor would not be recognized if there were a flaw in any of the three. Can I get a little help trying to figure out what's up! I already downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia also.

There are different types of DVI cables and DVI-D is no exception.. You need to get either a single-link or daul-link cable. Check your monitor to see what you need, I would assume you need a DVI-D dual link. Read this for info on both and pictures:

I had the same issue w/a DVI-I and ended up realizing i needed a dual link cable

Yes, I have a dvi-d dual cable. This should work! I am reading up on some problem with Nvidia and EDID, causing the DVI not to function properly. Wish this could be a quick fix, but it isn't looking that way. Any other suggestions?

What monitor do you have, and could you send me the link where you got you cable... just wanted to know all of your components..

It's a Xerox(Pro-view) XL-592d 19" monitor. I got the cable through monoprice.com. As I stated, when I hook up the DVI and the Analog simultaneously Nvidia recognizes that there are two monitors connected, but to get the thing to start up using DVI has been impossible.

I have been looking at the Nvidia FX5200 and see more data stating some are dvi-i not dvi-d if so your missing
C1 Analog Red Video C2 Analog Green Video C3 Analog Blue Video C4 Analog H Sync
which are above/below the horizontal pin on the dvi-d cable.. as seen in this cable http://www.datapro.net/products/1148.html note the DVI-D does not have these 4 pins.
