Help with file recovery!

hi there, my sisters PC had a 3 gigabyte backup folder which has been deleted, unfortautnely i need some of the stuff that was in the backup folder, and was wondering what applications i could use to have some chance of recovering the data.

it is my understanding that it is possible to retrieve the data because windows doesn't fully delete it?

i have heard about one nortons, or symantec file restoration program but this requires another drive to extract the information to which means that this would not be feasable in my situation.

details:

windows 98
20 gig drive, 10 gigs free, not formatted since purchase.

hi, you can use norton recovery disk which got a version of unerase that will run under DOS but can handle FAT32 fine, if you dont have it, pm me and i can zip it up and put it somewhere for you to download.

other than that, there are many undelete type programs out there, i heard FileResuce is good as well as software from PowerQuest that makes partition magic, you can always get a trial and use ti tor evoer the files.
