I got my new rig today. It has an XFX hd6950. My monitor is hooked up via DVI. When I try to hook up my LCD tv, the monitor goes blank, and the tv displays "Mode Not Supported"

Both worked fine with my HD4870 card. Am I doing something wrong here? Any help would be appreciated

Check your settings in CCC -> Advanced Display Settings

I'd also recommend creating a preset with your normal desktop properties saved and assigning it to a hotkey.

try adding custom resolutions at 59 hz or HDTV 720P modes, or 1366x768, 1360x768, 1367x768. Or 30hz modes.

I did add custom resolutions for 720p 50 and 60hz, also switched auto detect to manual, same result. If I hook the tv or monitor up by themselves, they work. If I hook them up the same time, the monitor goes black and the tv reports the mode is not supported.

I tried hooking the tv via the htmi cable up hot, but the monitor will still go blank...same results.

I also tried the other DVI connector on the card. That did not work either.

Did you create a preset for your custom resolution and assign a hotkey to it? After your screens went black did you press the hotkey to load the custom resolution?

Have you connected the displays while the computer was off, and then booted normally?

I never tried the hotkey method yet. I will try that when I get home. I did try to boot them from a cold boot..both would display right until it should have made it to the login screen, then both went off. I will also try rolling back the driver from 11.3 to 11.2 to see if that helps.

Question, is it safe to hot plug a DVI connection? I can try booting it up with the HDMI for the tv, and when in windows, plug in the monitor to the dvi port. Only if it is safe though
