Someone put a password on my Master and slave hd's. I can no longer access them. I can't format or fdisk either. Help me to get access to the disks.Please! i am desperate.
You mean someone put a BIOS password on your machine - when you turn it on it asks for a password?
If that is the case you need to clear the BIOS, this is usually done via a jumper on the motherboard - if you look in the motherboard manual it should tell you how to do this.
The p/w is on the HD (?)....I cannot access the HD because it was asking for the p/w. Tried to clear the CMOS, i even took the drive to another PC, no results...Something on the drive prevented me from fdisk/format or even access it.
What make hard drive is it? Perhaps you could use one of those utilities which write zeros to the hard drive - I don't know if that would get round the protection.
Other than this, unless you know what software was used to lock the hard drive I'd say your SOL.
Have you spoke to the person who did it - surely they must know what they done?
It's a brand new 40 gig HD by Quantum...I installed on the machine at work (all work related), i think the maintenance people at night must have done something to it. I don't even know for sure who did this, i would have fired the SOB on the spot. The brand new, probably two months old and less then 100 mb used HD is now a paper weight.
