first off you need to figure out why her back hurts in the first place. then you can help her. massaging her everyday will not help.

does she sit alot? if so, it might be her seating posture or the chair.

what about her posture? does she slouch? is she flat foot? does she have big breast?

plz clarify

she seems to have good posture, she does work at a pharmacy, and does spend alot of time on her feet. however even after a weekend and after a long time of sleep (on a new bed for a year mind you) she still complains it hurts. also, she is above average

shoes make a big difference. lots of people don't realize this but the arch on the bottom of your foot contributes to alot of pain in your back. if she's not flat foot and she doesn't have arch support in her shoes, she'll be slightly leaning foward thoughout the day. you don't really notice this cause you naturally balance yourself out. but even so, standing for 6-8 hours a day/ 5 days a week...it'll start to take a toll on her back.

i recommend going to a chiropractor. she can get her back realigned and they can further diagnos the problem.

just my .02 cents.

Go to a chiro. Just from her normal daily activities I'm sure she is long overdue. I remember one of the first times I went I had a shooting pain in my side and really had no idea what was going on. They took the xrays and showed me exactly what was going on and fixed it. Usually you have to go for a while for changes to set in, also massage can be good I reccomend using their massage beds or roller tables if they have them. The one I go to know has a water therapy bed, it is so nice.

a chiropractor should be able to diagnose the problem, even if some of you think their physical resolutions are shenanigans.

Maybe she is stressing about something. If this is the case I recommend working out, either that or a chiropractor or podiatrist for the flat feet

yeah, shoes are very important if shes on her feet all day. I'm flat footed and I can't take standing on my feet for too long. I need to get custom orthodics or something... but all soo expensive

I wonder if my shoes and being on my feet all day caused my problem. There's a tendon on the back of my left ankle that feels like it's scraping/snapping across the bone. It doesn't hurt, but it is annoying to feel the constant *pop.*

the shoe issue is a fact....if you're on your feet all day, having bad cushioning on your soles affect your posture...

Do the knots develop throughout the day, or after she sleeps?

I need a very hard bed(well, at least compared to most people) or my back hurts after sleeping. My bed consists of a futon mattress on the floor, lol. When we go to my girlfriends house, her soft normal mattress makes my back hurt.

If they happen through the day, it's obviously something that she does. Does she sit for long periods? If so, she needs to request a new chair, one that is fully customizable/adjustable, and play with it until it's better. If she stands, she should look into her shoes and posture.

I also recommend a chiropractor. They should be able to tell you whats wrong. I really have no idea why so many people here think they're quacks, because they really are not. There are people that are worse than others at any profession. If you don't like the first one you try, go to another one, and so on.

Oh man, going to the chiropractor once a week for 6 weeks was the best money State Farm ever spent. I had a nasty wreck, and my chiro saved me a LOT of pain and stiffness.
