OK, here is the deal. She has this compaq that she bought about 2 years ago and didnt have a lot of problems until recently. I am not sure if a virus caused this or what, but... here is what happens:
1. With Outlook Express 5 it takes a long time for it to load (about 2 to 3 minutes). In OE it does not delete her messages from the Deleted Items folder.
2. ScanDisk does not go beyond checking folders and defrag will not go past checking disk for errors.
3. Her 612C printer constantly blinks the top yellow light when a document is sent to the spooler. You can't even print a test page without it saying that the printer is being used by another program.
The computer is a Compaq 5441 with 64MB ram (8 shared). I am not sure what the specs are, but it is not very good. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more informatiom, I can supply this, but let me know ASAP if you need it. I am tempted to GUT the system and put new parts in a more ram and install 98SE for her. Not using the (stupid) System Restore CD from Compaq. LMK. Thanks in advance for your help.
