I just got the new NF today and I'm happy with everything except...there are two faint lines, one about a quater away from the top and one about the quater of a way from the bottom. I can see these two lines as I'm typing this new topic. Are those lines supposed to be there or is there something I can do to make them go away? Thanks!

EDIT: I now notice a nasty brown area on the right side of my monitor! What's wrong? Should I call the place i purchased it, or should I call Samsung?

yup, they are supposed to be there. All 900NF's got them. I hardly notice them anymore until someone brings them up.... =) i cant remember what they are for exactly but i think they line up stuff for the screen.

Those two lines are damper wires that help keep the aperture grille tight and in correct alignment (at least I think...)

I was just doing a play by play recap of the previous thread; I condensed the raw powerful meaning. heh.

Is there anything I should do that would make my monitor give me the best performance?

I sent you a monitor test program. Once you get everything set up like the geometry settings etc. they shouldn't be changed afterwards.

I just noticed another problem that is really bugging me. There is a brownish section about that spans a vertical line from the right side of my monitor. This brownish section is about 5% of my monitor screen. What should I do, call Dell?

Lines;

Two charging strips designed for Ap. Grille pitch..

Usually only noticeable on light backgrounds. As stated above, some people mind, some people don't.

Any Ap. Grille pitch monitor will have em...

LakerGod:

The two faint lines are standard in every Aperture Grille product regardless of brand so if you get a Sony or NEC or LG, if they are AG product, they will have those two faint lines. The alternative to that is the DynaFlat line which is also Flat but has lower refresh rate (900IFT, 955DF). Now that problem is not usually a basis for return because it is not a defect but if you choose to return it, that must be done through where you buy it from (depending on what their policy would be on non-defect).

Now you may have a story with the brownish section you mentioned. I don't know what that is but if it is a defect, you should be able to exchange or return it through Dell if you purchased it within 30 days. Beyond that, you would have to call Samsung which will be able to ship you replacement (most likely refurbished unit) or send somebody to look at it. My recommendation however to work with Dell first since if you purchased the product within 30 days, you should have the option to return defective unit and get a replacement without additional charge.

Djedimaster: Please send me the monitor test program. If not, please let me know where I can get something to test and setup the monitor.

Thanks,

Sal

try adjusting the "purity" setting, it usually fixes the brown area problems...

I uploaded the monitor test program HERE if someone wants it.
