Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Shuttle SN25P. Building and installing went fairly smoothly, but I can't seem to fix one last problem. Has anyone with nForce4 MediaShield RAID got their "Disk Alert System" (Sataconnection.exe) application to run? If so, what where you install steps?

This XPC is based on Nvidia's nForce4 Ultra chipset with RAID MediaShield Storage.

One major feature of Nvidia?s MediaShield RAID is their "Disk Alert System" (DAS).

When the RAID becomes degraded or fails, DAS informs the user of which drive/controller has failed. Here is a quote from Nvidia?s website:

?The MediaShield Disk Alert System facilitates identification by going a step further. An alert displays an image of the system motherboard and highlights the failing port, providing a visual indication so you know exactly which hard drive to replace.?

After setting up a mirror RAID through NVRAIDMAN in Windows, I simulate a failure of the hard drive/controller by removing the Serial ATA cable. Although a popup window states the array is now degraded, DAS does not launch or provide any info.

I have tried installing chipset drivers from the provided driver CD, and the latest downloaded drivers from Shuttles support page, and the latest Nvidia reference (ver 6.66) drivers directly from Nvidia. None have resulted in DAS working correctly, even though all versions supposedly support it.

After doing some research, I found a site which tested this feature (look at the bottom):

If you look carefully at the following pic, notice the two applications running in the taskbar: NVIDIA NVRAID and NVIDIA SATA CONNECTION:

NVRAID runs perfectly for me, as this is the main RAID utility. I located the SATA CONNECTION executable in the same directory with NVRAID, but running it manually does nothing. It does not start a process, service, or any application.

Also, I realized it must get the motherboard pictures from somewhere. But after searching I discovered none of the drivers have any pictures in them (aside from logos and such). So, where does it get them?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
