I must say that this BIOS has so many adjustments is makes my head hurt. I honestly don't know where to begin to O/C. Running "optimal settings" right now. I tried;

1. Disabling Turbo
2. Set CPU Ratio to 44
3. Put CPU Vcore to 1.30

Saved settings, rebooted, still runnin at 3.4MHz. What am I doing wrong? Is there something else that needs to be enabled or disabled first?

Appreciate the help or direction to an article or thread.

You sure its not throttling back? Trying running a stress test and check if it goes up to 4.4 ghz while the test is running.

Also where are you confirming that the CPU is still running at 3.4ghz? Just asking because if you are checking system properties in windows it won't show the OC download cpu-z.

Hi sd, I have a MIVE-Z and a 2600K, it OC's just fine. What I can't tell you is what to do differently based on the rather minimal level of details you have given in your OP.

You know how to take screenshots of your BIOS with the MIVE-Z? (it will store them on a thumbdrive if you have one plugged in)

Post up some shots of your BIOS settings so we can see where you are at, and we can better tell you what to change.

Step 1. Load optimized defaults, save and exit.
Step 2. Set vcore to 1.38
Step 3. Set your multiplier to 45x
Step 4. Enable hyperthreading, set all turbo core ratio's to 45x
Step 5. Save and exit, check to see if you are stable with LinX

Can't figure out how to upload the BIOS images off the thummb drive onto a reply post. I do not have the "manage attachments" button.

Yeah you can't do attachments here. You have to find a pic-sharing site like photobucket and then embed your pics here using the icon that looks like this:
(on the toolbar when in advanced editor mode)

That said, as the others asked, how are you monitoring your clockspeed in windows to know that it is not accepting the BIOS OC?

ok, finally figured out how to get the BIOS pics in here. Does everything look ok? Are there settings that need to be changed?

Those all look fine, you should be seeing 4.4GHz in cpuz when fully loaded with something like IBT.

There are a few settings you need to change.

First off, it's REALLY annoying me that you are running 44x, instead of 45x but I will leave that be. It's just my OCD is saying to tell you that it should be running at 45x lol.

Anyway, you NEED to change Internal PLL Overvoltage to DISABLED, it's on your first pic.

You should also set your dram voltage to 1.5 volts instead of auto.

Set your timings manually, aka your 9-9-9-24-2t or w/e you have on that ram.

After you have done the following, download the newest linx with avx pack, make sure you have service pack 1 for windows 7, and then run linx on maximum. If it fails, you need more vcore. As long as your temps are under 80c maximum, you can keep uping vcore. I wouldnt run more then 1.4 to 1.45 for 24/7 use though.

Some people get good chips and can hit 4.8+ with 1.4vcore, some chips can only do 4.5 with it. Just depends

1. Disabling Turbo
2. Set CPU Ratio to 44
3. Put CPU Vcore to 1.30

1. Leave Turbo enabled (basically reset BIOS to defaults and don't touch anything)
2. Set Turbo Ratio to "Per Core"
3. Set CPU Ratio to 44 for all 4 settings
4...
5. Profit!

You still need to manually change the vcore there zap =P Using AUTO for vcore is a horrible idea lol. Also you will probably need somewhere around 1.35 to 1.38 to get 45x stable.

PSSST please run 45x for me lol.

You'll be thrilled to know I'm runnin at 45x. Made other changes as well. Thanks. Will check stability, ad report back.

Thank you sd! You benefit from the extra speed and I benefit from the "even" number in my mind haha. For some reason, 44x just irritates me so much haha.

What vcore are you running at full load? Have you checked stability? Did you leave eist and the other power saving features on?

I love EIST and the power saving features. Your pc should run at 1600mhz idle and .097 vcore roughly. This is the "correct" way IMO

Your Welcome!
I only made the changes you recommended. Should I change something else? I can't seem find Linx. Where can I get it?

Use this

http://www.mediafire.com/?6oz87t0r1r2ksyi

If you have windows 7 service pack 1, you should have at least 100gflops roughly

Also, run the test on maximum for a MINIMUM of 2 hrs, I personally let it run over night while I sleep, aka 12-24hrs minimum. But for you, do at least 2 hrs on the max settings.

Another thing to note is your temps. If you were using prime95 to test stability before, temps will be about 10c higher. This program gives stability a whole new meaning

Gentlemen, I have this same mobo, got it recently. Have it set up with a 2700k. I used the bios built in settings for 4.2 and 4.6ghz. However I noted that the CPU volts were quite high. For instance for 4.6gz it set the vcore at 1.35. I was able to set it down to 1.3 to get 4.5gz. My question is what you said Fastamdman in regards to enabling the power saving features. I did, at least I think I did, but my vcore remains at all times at the rated max of 1.3. The speed drops down to 1600mhz but the volts won't. Is this normal? You said it should idle at .097 vcore roughly. My earlier system which was an i7 860 did just that although over clocked, when not loaded it would drop the vcore and run cool as heck. With all these setting and new chip, like the op, SD, my head is spinning. My bad for having gotten a mobo with so many options but I could not pass up the deal I got. Sigh

Clauidius-07 the reason you are not having the vcore drop down is because you are using manual voltage settings. You need to use offset voltages and have all the power saving features, eist, c1,c3,ce all that jazz enabled.

Also, 1.3 for 4.5ghz might not be 100% stable. I would do some linx testing there mate.

Ok wow I must be out to lunch. Thank you for that reply and so quickly. I will try just that. In regards to stability -- I used Prime as I always have, but I also noted folks, and you suggested it above, that LinX would be a better test.

Will set the bios up and get the offset voltage set up (if I can find it in the bios LOL), and then will test with Linx.

You know what.. man I am going to read the bloody manual for a change... not sure if that will help, but there's a first time for everything.
Thank you very much.
Cheers.
