Hi all, just wondering if any of you can suggest anything that might help me to overclock my system a bit further.... here's what I have and what I'm running at:

A7N8X Deluxe - nothing changed on motherboard ALL stock
Athlon XP 2100+ Thorough Bred B core
1GB Corsair XMS TwinX LL Ram (2 x 512sticks)
350W Antec PSU that came with my case (smartpower I think, the less expensive one I presume)
Swiftech MXC462 Heatsink and TT Smart Fan II on HS
2 x 80GB WD SEs running as master and slave NOT RAID
GeForce3 Ti200 128mb ram
liteon burner and toshiba dvd rom/cdrom
decent size antec case with as many case fans as there are slots(5)

I am currently running at 165mhz FSB and 13x(stock) multiplier so CPU speed = 2149.87mhz(wcpuid)
memory frequence is set to 120% so its at 198mhz result
timings are 5-2-2-2T
vcore set to 1.850V but running higher in my monitor, like 1.888 or even 1.9 sometimes
DDR voltage is 2.7V
AGP Freq at 66mhz
anything else you guys need?

Okay, so I tried upping the fsb bus but to no avail, i decreased the multiplier to 12 and then got pretty stable at 12x180 but that is just about the same resulting freq of the proc.... here are my questions.... would a antec true psu help me in OCing? Shoudl I atleast take off my NB heatsink and put some AS3 on there? would that help OCing? Would active cooling on the NB help even more? are my ram timings right? everyone tells me to set them at 2-2-25 but im not sure what each of those numbers means in bios because i dont think they are listed in the same order.... what do you guys suggest? am I simply at the limit of my processor? do I need to bring my ram down to like 166mhz when i overclock past 2150mhz? thanks for any help you can provide

You should probably set your mem frequency to 100%, and then try upping your fsb. Because if you set your fsb to 185, and run the frequency at 125%, thats 230 already. So when you set it too 100%, your running the cpu and mem synced (thats better for performance anyway). You should try to find out the highest fsb you can get with your system first before you try overclocking. Just set the multiplier low, and crank up the fsb. Once you find the highest stable fsb, then you can up the multiplier to find out how high you can take it. Oh yeah btw I think your power supply is fine. Putting as3 instead of the regular stuff will help a little, and putting active cooling on it will help as well.

Thanks for the help mike.... i lowered my multi a bit and doing the FSB thing now, and I am running it at 100% cause i know the mem wont run over 200.... still might get a true psu instead of smart, just for piece of mind, and so i know my components are getting steady voltage.... thanks again for the help mike, you rule... anyone else got any suggestions?

Wow, that's a bit high, isn't it?

Too bad we don't have any stats on high voltage and processor longevity...you concerned at all about greatly reducing the life of your proc?

i think you've hit a wall on your cpu....

sounds like everything is good... you should be able to run some really tight mem timings at 180 or even 190 considering that you have the corsair 3200 LL which is supposed to run at 200 mhz 2-2-2-6(5)? so....

don't waste your money by getting a psu.... the smartpower should be good enough...

12 x 180 = 2160 = a decent overclock

it's all a luck of the draw....
