Why would it be trolling? There could be a better option that I don't know of and hasn't been brought up in this thread. I'm just open to anyone's ideas before I place the order for this one.
I did and once again you blow the CPU is blown out of proportion instead of properly framing the situation for him. Outside of some very, very picky games, you really don't think there would be a difference between a GTX 460 and GTS 450? At his resolution in his system?how about reading my whole post instead of picking a single sentence out?
he has a freaking 7600gt at the moment so anything would be a massive upgrade. I said unless he was actually going to play newer games than CSS then there is no need for a $160 gpu.I did and once again you blow the CPU is blown out of proportion instead of properly framing the situation for him. What is basically the step down from a GTX 460/HD6850? The GTS 450/HD5770. And that's a pretty big step down.
At his resolution he should be getting a 1GB card. In fact the GTX460SE would be a good fit. They show nice gains from overclocking, are considerably faster than a 450 and 5770 (especially overclocked), have more VRAM than the 768MB-460 (I'm confident this will make a difference at his resolution and put the SE above the 768), and are cheaper than standard 6850s and 460s.
I never contested this.he has a freaking 7600gt at the moment so anything would be a massive upgrade

since the OP hardly games and when he does its mainly CSS... problem is some of those newer games might need a little more oomph than an E5200 can deliver.
if he is really going to try and play some newer games then sure.
No, and I never said otherwise. However a higher resolution will be more demanding on the video card, so it will make his video card slower. And that is now the real debate here, and is the point of my second post, but this is after pointing out what was wrong with your very first reply.though higher resolution doesn't magically make his stock E5200 handle cpu intensive games any better now does it?
I placed the order. Heheh can't wait!
Then why did you link to a video card after he placed the order? Why are you guys still fighting when he allready ordered a gtx460 768.
you are hilarious. I wasn't aggressive at all so please re read everything the op said and you would see that I was simply addressing each part of it.At his resolution he should be getting a 1GB card. No, you didn't really say that...
In fact that statement is in complete contradiction (in tone) to what you wrote afterwards:
You were not very clear, at all. Your more aggressive stance with the statement "since the OP hardly games" overshadows everything else you said, as well as that last statement. What you said and your tone is what I first addressed; your statements insinuated he wasn't going to be playing newer games and I pointed out that was the goal of his upgrade in the first place. You first use a declaritive statement and then you include some conditional statements? What is with that? That's contradictory.

So yes, I do think something was wrong with your first reply, as I've already discussed. But to recap the problem is mainly how constricted and contradictory it was.
LOL, really? Really? Really? You're calling me hilarious when you are the one with extremely poor communication skills?you are hilarious. re read everything the op said and you would see that I was simply addressing each part of it.
you should not have even tried in the first place. again I was trying to address every part of his OP. what you did was take one sentence out of my comment while ignoring the rest. there is only one reason that you did that and you what it is so stop before you screw up the entire thread.LOL, really? Really? Really? You're calling me hilarious when you are the one with extremely poor communication skills?
Now I've seen it all; I think I'll just give up now.

I'm looking to get a reasonable video card for the occasional game, using a 7600GT right now and just play a bit of CSS gungame, nothing heavy. I'd like to try some newer/better games.
yeah a gts450 kind of ends up in no mans land because of the deals on the gtx460.A gtx460se,5770,and gts450 recommendation is stupid if a gtx460 for $93 is avalable.
Does that sound like someone who cares about 768mb versus 1gb of memory?
hahahahahaha, I'm laughing at anyone who spends the energy typing for this argument.
In fact , I"m outa here, this is ridiculous.
It's like having a nagging wife that needs to be right.
Newegg.ca
Only $149? That isn't bad.The one I've ordered from NCIX is $149 for 1GB, so I'll stick with that.
1. Strawman argument.A gtx460se,5770,and gts450 recommendation is stupid if a gtx460 for $93 is avalable.

I have a right to point out inconsistencies and clarify the situation. That is why I did it. And look, the OP came in and basically said what I was trying to say in the first place. He wants to play new games but he can't. You declaratively stated he's only playing CSS with that one sentence, and that is why I singled it out. And here's another example of a communication failure...you should not have even tried in the first place. again I was trying to address every part of his OP. what you did was take one sentence out of my comment while ignoring the rest. there is only one reason that you did that and you what it is so stop before you screw up the entire thread.
I would consider a CPU upgrade in the future. I know this thread has been about video cards, but with Sandy Bridge out you should watch for sub $100 Q6600's that should be a drop in replacement but should bring a big shot of extra performance.
If your board can support the newer quads you have even better chance of hitting a good deal.
I wouldn't treat this as a priority, but if you see a good deal on something better you should hit it. I would either get a quad or push the big button and do CPU/Mobo/Ram with DDR3 hitting $30 for 4GB.
I think you did the right thing in buying the 1GB (especially at your high rez!) It would be bad to be regretting that a year from now. I am hoping I don't regret the 1GB 5870 that UPS is bringing me now, but with any luck in 2013 I'll be refreshing the whole thing.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 2.83GHz 1333MHz 6MB $236.99
the same chip with 12MB L2 $277
hmm
HAHAHA - no! You can't make any *wrong* decisions here, but that would be throwing money away. I would be willing to help you buy a Core i5 2400 CPU (new sandy bridge) and mobo for that much from Microcenter if you don't have one locally.
My threshold would be getting a quad for south of $100 if I were in your shoes. Q6600, Q9400, etc.
