Hi, i'm having a problem with Remote Access Service. I am running this on a Dual PII 300 Compaq Prosignia 300 server. The server has 160M of RAM and plenty (4G) of free HD space in a Mirror RAID setup. I have two external 56 and 33.6k modem attached to the server with a Digi board. (Allows for more physical COM ports. This Digi uses a 8250 UART, not a 16550.
The problem is, when people call in, sometimes they can access the server and sometimes they cannot. This server is a NT4 BDC with SP6. Sometimes the Logon Scripts will run, and sometimes they won't. The event log says they are authenticated, but they cannot browse the server. Other times they can do anything. Also the speed will vary from 19.2 to 31200, but even on the 56k it will not go higher. I have tried bypassing the DIGI board and connecting the 56k directly to the physical COM1 on the server with no increase in bandwidth. I thought that external modems had internal 16550 UART's that allowed for more than 33.6? Isn't that true?
I run a VPN with this server also (Virtual Private Network) which will also not allow browsing all the time.
I am stumped, if ANYONE has any ideas, please share them.
thanks!
