Help with Remote Desktop issue

Hi guys,

I'm a bit stumped on this one:

2 PCs, both Win 7 64 bit.

Both have Remote Desktop enabled.

I can remote from PC 1 --> PC 2

but cannot remote from PC 2 --> PC 1

Just says that the computer can't accept the connection or whatver.

I turd off any firewall I can find, both the PCs are on the same local network.

Obviously the scenario I need to have working is the exact scenario that doesn't work, PC 2 --> PC 1.

Anything else I can check, or should I look for a 3d party solution?

Oh and both PCs have a password for the user name.

enable the firewall on pc2

and then on pc2 go to system >> remote settings and allow all versions of remote desktop.

If that fails for you try vnc

try to ping the other machine, if the PC1 cannot ind PC2, you will have a problem like this.

And second vote for VNC, neat little tool.

Yes all that stuff checks out, I will look into VNC.

My goal is this basically, so not sure how effective it is going to be through any Remote solution, but I want to stream something on the upstairs computer and want to see it on the downstairs PC which is hooked up to the projector.

I can't stream it directly on the downstairs PC cause I have to hide my IP in order to watch local NBA games and the software I'm using to hide my IP would want me to buy another license for the downstairs PC, which is like.. blah, don't want to do that

that won't work well, even in Remote desktop, the video is not animation quality.

For this, you will want to use the VNC to control the other computer to start and stop the video, and then something like this to view the actual stream. I am just not sure how it will work if you are streaming the video feed live.

Are you using Home edition by any chance? Remote Desktop only works one way unless you have Pro or Enterprise.

Read the first review. lol. I dont think I would trust this one, but it is cheap. I would maybe try something in the $50 range.

Hmmm, I thought both my systems were home edition, which is why I found it strange that I can connect one way but not the other, however, perhaps I am wrong about that.

I will double check, but that sounds like the most logical explanation.
