Help with setup of 2405FPW

Hey all, just a few noobish questions here:

1. How do I set this LCD to view a DVD in full widescreen mode? When I pop in a DVD, it plays it with a fairly large blackborder all the way around it.

2. How do I play games in their natural resolution? For example when I play an older game, such as Starcraft, it stretches the pixels and it looks very unnatural/bad.

3. How do I set the input to view things in natural format (ie I plug in my PS2 and it stretches all the pixels as well)?

go into the menu. then go into the image settings sub menu and play with the scaling option.

as for dvd's having a border, thats probably a software setting. make sure the program knows the monitors aspect (16:10)

what player are you using?

I was just using Windows Media Player.. should I use PowerDVD or something else? What player do you recommend for DVDs?

For DVD, set it to aspect in the menu under image settings. For natural resolution, set it to 1:1.

for #1, the DVD has to be anamorphic... as in, when you run the DVD windowed, do you see black on top and bottom? if so, you will not be able to run it in real widescreen, at least without losing quality. if when you run it windowed there are no black bars, then it is anamorphic, so fullscreening it should be easy.

most dvds these days are anamorphic.

Hmm I was watching Rounders Collector's edition, and I think it did have the black aroudn it in windowed mode, but I'll test again when I get home to make sure.

I have tried WinDVD and Windows MEdia player, both still have bars.. though WinDVD is better. Another thing of note is its on analog right now, because I haven't finished setting up my new computer (and almost half of the menu options, including those under image controls are grayed out). Shoudl switching to DVI (once I have access to my new vid card) solve these problems?

DVI won't fix that...but it will look a lot better.

Hmm.. any reason why I can't access some of the menu options? I have the latest drivers from their website...
