Trying to reformat/reinstall xp ... the system isn't booting from the cd. When I try going into setup (bios), the screen sort of turns on and off endlessly. Maybe it's not completely turning off, not sure what it's doing ... it's as if it's switching video modes over and over and over, and I can never see anything on the screen - but the system doesn't seem to be frozen, the num lock/caps lock keys work. If I put the xp cd in dvd drive #2, it does the same thing and doesn't start up. If I put the cd in dvd drive #1, it will start up but it boots from the HD.
From within windows, if I try running setup from the cd, it says I have a newer version of windows and it doesn't give me an option to install anyway (I found this strange). It is XP Home. If I boot in safe mode the install doesn't work either.
Any ideas?
