I need a network/wifi expert.

I am moving my wi-fi enabled equipment/network to another station. Previously I was cable modem->router->wifi and hardwire network.

However, my new office is basically a shed outside the main building...without internet access. I can barely access the office's wi-fi network from inside my new office. The boss wants to know if we can just use our current setup without running a cable out to the shed.

He thus wants: office-wifi (with internet) ->my router ->my wi-fi/hardwire network.

I automatically connect to office network on my laptop wi-fi... I but have little clue how to connect my router to the office network.

Please help. Thanks in advance. I am a lowly doc so I can gladly trade so medical advice.

If your laptop barely reaches, would it be possible to run that cat 5. I'm no huge fan of wireless yet but a wired network is much more reliable.

I can easily place the router where I can keep a steady connection to the office network; however, it's just not possible to make connections all over the shed. I figure I am trying to use the router as an access point?

I forgot to mention that the router is a wireless/wired DLink DI-614+

I can run wire after 6 months or so... I was just hoping that since it is possible to access the office network on my lap... that I could use my router to share this connection with my current network.

Yeah, your not going to use the device as an AP without running a cable out to it. It has to get to the backbone somehow. The alternative would be to use the AP as a client however I am relatively sure that your Router/AP combo does not have a client function. Bridging would be another option but again, Router/AP combos don't bridge. Since your device is already D-Link+ your best bet is to probably buy another DLink+ AP and set it up as a repeater. Won't be fantastic for tranferring files to a file server but it will provide ample bandwidth to supply the broadband connection out to you.
