So, I'm still well. Everything got fixed (still think Toyota's not doing well these days but whatever) and is still as such for now, EXCEPT for the one thing they couldn't replicate.....window rattle. Here's what's been attempted so far:
-Dealer pulled window rubber down & installed felt behind on driver's side of door channel. (didn't fix it)
-Dealer "adjusted" window. (I don't know what this entails, but didn't do it either)
-Dealer adjusted door to shut just under flush per my instruction as it fixed a door rattle on the passenger side. (didn't fix it)
So, I've been trying all kinds of stuff including silicone spray on all pertinent surfaces.....(cleaning painted side, applying silicone to rubber side) but this doesn't fix it either. So last night I got desperate. I was going to tape the top of the glass since it's definitely pinpointable but decided to go with a length of Kleenex so I could install/remove easily. I caught the door doing it and stopped, rolled window down, laid Kleenex on top of glass and rolled it up into channel......presto, it fixed it. (or at least muffled it mute).
So my question is........Should I suggest they replace the window rubber itself or have them try to put thin felt up inside that window rubber channel? (remember when all window channel rubbers had felt in them???)
Here's the only thing I found which I don't know wasn't done by them when they tried their first fix per above bullet list.........
Normal inner rubber lips on passenger window rubber.......
Crinkled / tweaked rubber on driver's (rattle) side...
