Help with xawtv

I'm installing MythTV on my HTPC and I'm having trouble with xawtv in Mandrake Linux 9.1. I'm not sure which version of xawtv this is, but it must be fairly recent.

All of the cable channels the program detected are one channel off. How do I fix this.

Also all of the pictures are in black and white. If I use the right arrow key the color increases to normal. How can I get it to stay this way?

Thanks for the help. Mythtv looks very cool, and it was fairly easy to install, but hard to perfect.

xawtv's channel settings are stored in your ~/.xawtv file. You can edit that file to adjust the channel numbers.

To fix the black and white channels, count the number of times you need to press right for the best picture and add "fine = n" (where n is the number of times you press right) to each channel entry in your .xawtv file. In my case, it looks best if I press right three times, so each channel entry in my .xawtv file looks like this:

channel = 12
fine = 3

Nice! do you think I can get this bundle to work in freeBSD easily, and how functional is the recording using mythTV? I am considering building one of these boxes myself.

I found out that my /etc/modules.conf file wasn't listing the correct tuner type. So now I have a clear picture with the correct channel numbers.

Skyking - The installation directions are geared towards Mandrake with the awesome urpmi command. I'm fairly sure that if FreeBSD supports QT, Freetype, video4linux, bttv, etc.. you can get mythtv running. I've yet to record a show, I think i'll record a couple tonight and check them out tommorow. I'll let you know the verdict. I'm a linux newbie, so don't take me too seriously.
