Fear isn't bad in the right context. However, many conservatives become so dependent on fear that they wind up inventing enemies when there are no actual enemies, just so they can feel useful.It was an interesting read. I agree that I have much fear, and am motivated by it. Guess I could never be a Jedi eh?
But is it wrong? It seems like a natural evolution of our species. How do you perceive nature? Is it something valuable, or should it be overwitten and overcome?
I for one don't think that fear is a horrid motivator. The saying "necessity is the mother of invention" comes to mind. There's a fair chunk of the population that could use some motivation, rather than sucking the welfare teat...
I agree with your points and I agree with Haidt. I have on ego to protect. The chips are as they fall in a fact based world. This is my liberal brain in action, convincing myself that I'm honest in evaluating things.
