Stating that conservatives are "competitive" is giving them too much credit.

It's not competition, when you strive to watch those weaker than yourself suffer - and ensure suffering is inflicted on them, by your own actions and wishes.

So, the conservatives who act the way they do today, aren't really conservatives. They are sadists. They enjoy torturing and punishing people weaker than themselves.

And, they are certainly not conservatives, since conservatism in the US is associated with religion. Specifically, Christianity. No where does Jesus preach to hate, oppress and wound your fellow man. "Conservatives" today do just that - they hate, oppress and wound homosexuals, women, minorities and anyone else that does not fall into their cookie cutter mold.

Wow you beat that straw man to death not only have you injured him but you sucked his brains out of his head. Get some help.

Perhaps if you found the evidence of your birth place to be compelling enough you'd accept as truth that you were born there... and ergo, You'd have been there....

What might it take to allow you to amend your statement to be less certain about not ever being there (England)?

I think I have solved the Moonbeam/LunarRay puzzle. The real name of these two posters is are you ready? Keyser Söze

So I actually read the whole thing. You can sum it up as "why liberals are losers and conservatives are assholes". Also, can I call Godwin's Law at the Hitler reference? Of all the examples they could have chosen to discuss the "extreme right", they had to choose Hitler?

Given the readership of Salon I have no doubt that this was designed to make said readers feel better about themselves. I don't doubt (at present) the veracity of the claims, mainly because I lack the time to investigate them; but there's no doubt as to why this article was written and it wasn't for mere academic enlightenment. Salon's liberal slant is well known.

This article was, however accurate, little more than academic degradation of Conservatives. It basically says that Conservatives are extremely fearful and extremely competitive, and it ends by comparing Obama to Rousseau (after mentioning the former's Nobel Peace Prize). The article sets up cooperative liberalism as the natural antidote to conservative fear and competition without substantiation, although it just barely avoids stating so directly.

It also notably fails to examine the potential virtues of the traits it mentions. Is the fear warranted? Do the competitive energies produce stronger individuals? Who cares? The article simply leaves the natural implication that fear and competition are negative traits hanging there, ripe for the reader to pluck out of the air and feel like they just had an original thought.

This is a very well written, very slanted, very manipulative article. It fails to examine even in brief the implications of its conclusion, and IMO exists to serve as a "fact sheet" for Salon's liberal readership in their next debate. It's another arrow for a Liberal's quiver, and little else. Some of those studies were interesting though.

LMAO!!!! After 3 months of not posting LunarRay comes to rescue MoonBeam or is MoonBeam rescuing himself using his alt LunarRay???

I hate to blow your theory, though I doubt you'll even believe what I'm about to tell you, but the actual story, this first part conjecture on my part, is that LR has pretty much decided that you dumbbells aren't worth his time, and the second part I know as fact is that I e-mailed him from Europe about this thread. We haven't been able to talk much for the last two months because I hate typing on my IPad, so I was thinking to share here.

I'm too tired from a long flight home to do this post justice, but I wanted to say I appreciate the fact that you dealt, it seems to me, intelligently with the actual subject matter. Thanks. I will try to read it carefully later.

Sorry... periods?...... this isn't irc, circa 1999, and you aren't 11?...........

Oh! ...

You mean my use of ellipses or in some contexts aposiopesis. I didn't know there was an age limit assigned to their usage, but whatever.

I must admit that I don't follow the CMS in all cases.

I guess I didn't get the message that ellipses were no longer permitted circa 1999 by non 11 year olds. :hmm:

I was too tired at the time to say so but I wanted to tell him that I judged the effect his post would have on you as right up there with him pissing into the wind.

Just so we are clear you are saying that liberals are weak right?

Just to be clear; you are a liar.

You posted a lie as fact: it was the one about a woman raping a boy, getting pregnant by him, she went to prison and then the boy was forced to pay for child support.

The posts shown when using the "Find More Posts by Moonbeam" shows otherwise. The frequency and length of your posts has not decreased in well over two months.

Nope, there were 1681 posts I didn't make because I deemed them too much effort. It was painful too to have to allow so many of you to continue to live in ignorance. I'm noticing now, in fact, that I have forgotten how to type and have modified a number of the more recent posts as a result. I can hardly bother, as one example of result, to say fuck you.
