How do you install the damn thing????

The manual for the Zalman says install the AMD64 backplate on the back of the motherboard....

Well how in the world you do that when there is a metal piece stuck to the motherboard.....I haven't tried to remove it coz I am afraid I will break something....

Help pleaseeeeeeeeeeee.....

NM...answered my own question...the damn things are incompatible....

My Neo 2 Plat and Zalman 7000 CU should be here today, the 7000 is compatible under these conditions "Compatible when not using ZM80(A/C/D)-HP together!" whatever that means.

ZM80(A/C/D)-HP is a video card cooler....

I really do not get them.....

Installation is the same on 7000Cu as on 7700Cu.....and the reason why I couldn't install 7700Cu is the metal plate that's attached on the back side of the MOBO....so I don't really get how you can you one but not the other....

Oh so just take off the plate that is already there? I dont have the mobo in hand so I dont know what it looks like.

Yeap...it's a metal plate....just be patient....I removed it...I pressed in the screw holes slowly on the top side and eventually the glue loosened and the thing popped out....

Yeah my 7700Cu definitely won't fit....AGP card couldn't go in....
So now I gotta overnight 7000 heh....

those of u with the neo 2 platinum can u consult your manuals and tell me what revision it states on page iii? reason is im having problems with mine and i have on page iii revision 1 dated july 2004

My backplate was already installed onto the motherboard when I got it. I bought it off of newegg about a week ago.

Either that or I never installed it? Either way my computer works fine.

I know this is a little late, but I read a post over at the msi forums that said use a hairdryer to loosen the glue that's used on the plate. Also the Zalman 7000b will fit a 939 board, the Zalman 7000a will not. Make sure you get the right one.

The thing we were messing around with is to remove that backplate...all of us had it installed already, we just wanted to remove it.....
