In fact he will find the exhaust system on the Hemi a bit tricky, because it is designed to compensate in 4 cylinder mode so that it doesn't sound like a John Deere...

Quick search I did said he could get anywhere from 14-17 HP just from the exhaust mod. <shrug> I really don't see how it is all that different than some of the stuff that OC tweakers go through to squeeze that extra .6 GHz out of a CPU (other than the obvious expense etc). If he is into cars and power then I would guess that 14-17 HP would be a nice especially if he gets similar results from the cold air mod.

Not that I'm doubting you, but the new Hemi has 390 horses...MDS and VVT.

The Sierra is a nice truck, but I don't see how it's going to "eat" a 390HP truck.

My 2008 Jeep has the slightly older Hemi without the VVT.

You can thank my buddy's Whipple and Garrett for that. One day I found myself the proud new owner of a 4L80E, and I asked myself, "Self? What can I do with such technology?". To which self replied, "Why, turn it into a MONSTER!". My L76 was happy to oblige.

766 HP, 902 lb·ft. And to top it all off I handicap myself by using muds 90% of the time.

You win the dumbest post of the thread award. You have literally no idea how far he needs to drive on a daily basis. If his round trip commute to work is 5 miles I really, really doubt the gas mileage is going to be a big deal. I know it doesn't fit your agenda to be logical so carry on.

A HEMI!?!? Not just some no name engine, but a real HEMI? All the marketing of those engines make me want one of them for no apparent reason at all. Care to share with me all of the wonderful things your HEMI does? I'm in awe of your newly acquired automotive marvel.

I want a true chrysler Hemi...but it's hard to find a 50's motor cheaply and in good condition. Hell even a ford cammer would be nice.

Marketing name or not the new "Hemi" engines are extremely stout, they flow very well and make GREAT power.

Who gives a fuck about it being a hemi, all that matters is it is a damn nice engine, the 5.7L is basically a beefier LS1, and the 6.1L competes directly with the LS3 in terms of power output.

The new 5.7L is making a new for itself as the best bang for the buck engine in the 300C, Charger, Challenger, etc. as it's making very good power and people are running good ET's at the track with it as it responds well to minor mods.

390hp!

Work is 5 miles away but even if it were 60 miles I would still drive it, the truck has balls and rides nice. Paying for gas is not an issue for me even at $5 a gal.

My wife and I just got a Chrysler 300C with a HEMI. We really, really like that car. With traction control turned off the back end can get pleny squirrely when I want it to. That engine is smooth as a baby's butt, and the ride in that car is sooooo nice. Enjoy your new truck! Also, I'm sure your truck is heavy (not that the 300C is light or small) but we still get plenty decent gas mileage. Her commute is all of 5 miles, so it hardly matters anyway.

How did it compare to the other big 3 offerings... or i guess i should say what made you go with the dodge? just the motor? ride, price, interior, etc? no bashing just curious.

I think the comparison went like this:

Ford: No HEMI.
GM: No HEMI.
Toyota: No HEMI.
Nissan: No HEMI.
Dodge: HEMI! JACKPOT!

Of all above I'd go with the GM Sierra/Silverado any day of the week. The fact that I own one that can do 11.2 quarter miles notwithstanding.

For me it was a little of all of the above.

Ride they are using a new rear suspension no longer using leaf-springs this has had a major impact on the ride.

Looks, for me it?s much more aggressive looking then the others, and I loved the look and feel of the interior. I?m a big guy 6"5 and I don?t feel like a giant in the Dodge.

Price got 11k off the MSRP, now this being said there are good deals on all the trucks if you shop around.

I guess at the end of the day is big part of it is just personal likes and dislikes, I liked the Dodge more than the other truck, and that?s not a knock against them I have owned trucks from just about every maker they all seem to make a nice product.

I looked at the Dodges in 2005 when I was looking for a new pick up. Didn't like them at all. I was comparing the Fords with the Dodges, and sadly, the Dodge just didn't compare favorably IMO. (I've been a MOPAR owner nearly all my life) One of my biggest complaints (which they've since fixed) was that the rear doors on the quad-cab were just too small.
I liked the way the Laramie and Big Horn editions were equipped, but the truck just didn't measure up to the Lariat and King Ranch editions from Ford.

(unfortunately, this was during the "Employee Pricing Events" in the summer of 05, and I never found a pick up that I liked enough to bring home...ended up with a new Expedition)

You bought a Dodge?

Democrats drive Dodges.

Did you ask how long your lifetime limited powertrain warranty was good for?

Chrysler has not built a "real hemi" since the 426. Cerberus Capital Management just calls that engine a hemi.

Redneck much?

Now, away with ya. Go get ya some of them Truck Nutz.

**Discalmer:

I'm not this big of an asshole in real life, I just play one on the internet.
