I hope it's retail. Well, even if it's OEM I'd be okay with it as long as it comes with everything the retail verson comes with. Guess I'll find out in a few days.

I hope they are one of the sites that doesn't update their order status frequently. I ordered the card last week and my order status still shows in process...same as it did an hour after I placed the order. Anyone else have more updated information on their orders?

ericb: Mine is still in process, but I just ordered it yesterday.

Has anyone received this card yet? I've done the "stuck in limbo for 4 weeks and suddenly credit card is credited purchase amount with no explanation given or product received" thing before, so I hope this isn't another "we had 38 in stock and we sold 186.. hmm... how should we handle this?" situation.

Mine still shows In Progress. Glad I ordered this late last night. Now it's Out Of Stock. Hope it doesn't take forever for them to ship it to me. I've got some games waiting to be played.

Hmm..... I placed my order yesterday morning, and the status for the order went to "accepted". It has not changed to "in process" or anything else. I wonder what "accepted" means to them?

It says on their site that once placed orders can't be cancelled.... You'd better believe that if they're going to delay the shipping for this thing (out of stock or something like that), I WILL cancel my order.

Mine shipped last week. It was listed as "Accepted" for a day, then "In Process" for two days, then finally shipped a day later. In all it's going to take 10 days to get form Illinois to CA.

I ordered mine thursday afternoon, and they just shipped it monday(21st), via UPS ground. I was a little dissapointed on how long it took them to ship it (I guess I am just used to newegg). However the order tracking says it should arrive on the 23rd.

I just went back to the product page and it says they still have some in stock but the sell out risk is now very high

I got a notice last night that it was shipped. I'm not able to track it yet which means it hasn't even hit the UPS distribution center yet (as of 11am today). I'm not expecting it before Friday if they ship it from a local warehouse (somewhere close like Tenn or Georgia) or early next week if it comes from California. Of course the newegg order I placed the same day was delivered this morning...after being delayed a day.

I received a ship notice yesterday, and received a tracking number. UPS still reports it as "Billing Information received" only.

I emailed and asked them about the status of retial or OEM - I received this somewhat amusing (yet polite) response in return:

Thank you for your interest in shopping with us, and for your inquiry about the Hercules ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB 8x Video Card that you purchased from our website. I have researched your questions regarding whether it is a Retail box, or an OEM?. I apologize for the answers to your questions not being available on our site. Items move on and off our site so quickly, we do not always have the opportunity to gather detailed information on every item.

I am not sure what you mean when you use the term Retail box, but the Hercules ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB 8x Video Card that you purchase is brand-new and is not a factory reconditioned item, as some of the electronic items on our website are. You are fortunate that you purchased this item when you did because I am now showing that this item is no longer available. However, it is reasonably anticipated that we will be receiving some more in stock at some point in the future.

Thank you for your patience and interest. I hope you will visit us again soon to see our great deals on brand-name products. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you for this, or any other issue. I'm sure you appreciate the great deal you got on your recent purchase, and our savings continue today.

So it looks like it's a retail boxed version then. Cool!

faster of course ;]

www.tomshardware.com find out urself ;D

Let me put it this way,

is it worht the upgrade from a AIW 9700 Pro?

Check out this review, and see for yourself if the performance increase is worth it to you:

Tom's Hardware VGA Charts

Not a huge increase so IMO I would hold out for an x800 or gf 6800, but the decision is yours.

yeah you all are right, why bother, I guess comparing this to the price of my 9700 about two years ago, its seems to be a sweet deal. If I had a crapola card I'd probably pounce in this one.

I just received my hercules card from overstock, and it is definitely oem. All that was included was the card and a y power splitter cable. No driver cd or nothin. But I checked hercules website and you can get their overclocking utility in their downloads section. But I have to say that this card looks really awesome.

Bummer... I was hoping it would have been retail. Oh well.

I can't wait to get mine. It's on its way via UPS now.

Let us all know how the overclocking goes and what settings work best.

Thx

I am not sure I want to overclock. I just installed it and played a few games, and the copper cooler on the back of the card was very, very hot, hot enough it would probably burn my hand if I kept it there. Is this normal for a 9800 pro?

Oh, acer1: (or anyone else who has received the card yet) - have you tried the S-video out? I read on a couple of forums that the S-video out quality of the hercules (or maybe most 9800 pros) was pretty lousy. I have a geforce3 ti200 and a 12' s-video cable, and the picture seems okay (I mainly use it for playing 8-bit/16-bit games via emulation.)

How's your performance so far? Does the OEM still have the cool blue fan/LED?
