That's what I proposed and I'm sticking to it. Time to shut down the border and put an end to the incursions by the Mexican Army. If it has the added benefit of stopping the flow of drugs, and illegals then that's just a bonus. Just how hard do you think it would be for someone to sneak a nuke across with the way our borders are now. Or even more frightening how easy do you think it would be for them to sneak a few people infected with the plague across the bored and thus start an epidemic? Maybe it's harsh thinking on my part but I'm just stating what I think is in the best interest of the country.

Shiner: Have you read the article? It certainly doesn't sound like it, for the article barely even mentions gunfire exchange. The main point of the article was that Mexican authorities regularly cross the border inadvertently or otherwise, but out of hundreds of these crossings the gunfire exchanges can be counted on one hand. Listening to you one would be inclined to think that gun battles were weekly if not daily occurences.

That article isn't the latest....there was actually an incident last weekend where the Mexican Army came across onto an Indian reservation in Arizona. They were driving all over the place and harassing the reservation police and they called for the border patrol. The border patrol guy arrived and was then chased off and shot at by the Mexicans. They even blew the windows out of his vehicle. At the time all this happened the reservation police claimed the Mexicans were 5 miles inside the border and that this is not the first time such an incident had occured in the area, it was just the first time they had called the border patrol for backup. Can't find the story but that's as I heard it on the radio being told by a spokesman for the border patrol and the reservation police.

Well, you're winning unless you are a racist (which is not the case here). This isn't about racism and it isn't about illegal immigration. It is about an armed force, wearing the uniform of another nation, making armed, hostile incursions across our border. The question is, how do we stop it? Of course we go through official channels but, as many of you know, the Mexican law enforcement and military is probably the most corrupt in the world. Anyone who has ever been in any Mexican border town can attest to that. We have been protesting for years about the police force in Tijuana. So the protests probably won't stop it. so what's the answer. Maybe initially it is the Army, just to let them know we are serious. But I think long term it will have to be civilian law enforcement maybe augmented with National Guard. Quite frankly I'm not worried about some guy named Jose' who wants to come here to make a better life, I'm worried about the guy who isn't coming here for a better life, he's here to end his own life and to take as many of us with him as he can.

So true, so true, so true. It's sick how often the word racist gets tossed around. At work we had a guy on the help desk who was half Hispanic and half black. A guy called in about a problem with an application and this guy came out to me and told me what was going on and told me, me being the Sys Admin, that there was something wrong with one of my servers and I needed to fix it. I explained that it wasn't a server problem and told him how to fix it. I later caught him while he was at lunch and asked him how everything went. His response "Why didn't you even check to see if it was a server problem, is it because I'm black?" I looked at him like WTF and told him no and that I had seen the problem before and knew what it was. He then went off about me being racist and "unable to listen to a black man because I was afraid he might be right" I told him he was out of his mind and then just walked off while he continued to do his whole I'm being repressed routine. Turned out he was like this when he had to deal with any type of authority and that's why he no longer works there. Don't know why I felt the need to write all that....oh yeah.....because I hate the fact that the word racist gets thrown around so much these days.

Well, this isn't near the same situation. It's more like living in a house near a school where the students cut across your property going to and from school. Once in awhile, one of the students kicks your dog.

So little time...apparently the Mexican Army and Federali's are involved in interdicting drug traffickers and human smuggling. The problem is that nothing is being coordinated. If it was a NATO operation, there would be one guy in charge..from whichever country, usually neutral. The idea that these guys come over into an area where there is any question at all who the players are, shooting anyway, indicates that they are out of control, innocent or not. So what u.s. govt politico is gonna stand up and get this taken care of? Maybe we should have a poll? But I don't think any of them really care.. and that's too bad cause it's not that hard to fix..when bullets fly, eventually someone gets hit. I suppose our govt is waiting for a body count so they can be noticed when they take action.
