Currently you buy a CD, make a few copies, but you can't return or exchange the CD unless it's defective. At least the company has profit from the one sale.
Now it will take a few weeks, but a simple crack is sure to start circulating. Then you can buy the CD, make a few copies, and then you'll be able go back to the retailer, claim the CD doesn't work on your system, and return the CD and get your cash back. So then the company loses the sale plus will have the additional expense of dealing with a return.
Oh yeah, that will work real nicely...
