Sony has at last unveiled some of the final details of its PlayStation 3 console.
The PS3 will come in two versions - one with a 20GB hard drive and one with a 60GB hard drive. The 20GB version will lack a memory card reader, WiFi and a HDMI output. The lack of HDMI, in particular, is bad for the consumer - since it will mean the PS3 will be very little use as a Blu-Ray player, one of its major touted features. The 60GB version will have one, however.
The 20GB version will come in at $499 and the 60GB version at a whopping $599. In Europe, those prices convert straight to Euros - although no word on QueenLiz's Sterling just yet.
well 20gig, no wifi, no memory card reader and no HDMI making the Bluray abit useless is abit of a crap desicion, the 20gig one looks like a gaming only job.
its expensive too $599! whats the top xbox cost? like $300?
its out on november 17th, and it better be good to justify the price. 499 is alot for something that has no wifi, a small hd and cant really function as a BLU-RAY player.
EDIT UPDATE****
some hands on!

and its not looking too good
Gran Turismo: Very little generally changes between the GT iterations when it comes to the actual nitty gritty of the racing gameplay, and the same is true here. The PS3 offers nothing by way of innovation, although we don't doubt that there are new game modes and tracks in there somewhere. The graphics are undoubtedly pretty nice - although, in our opinion, no better than Project Gotham 3 on the Xbox 360. If you are a massive GT fan, then you'll love this, but it's nothing new.
Virtua Tennis 3: Awesome. We're big fans of Sega's arcade racquet-em-up, and this looks like being the best version of it yet. Again, there is nothing new here apart from some shiny graphics. Unfortunately for Sony, Sega were showing off the game on the Xbox 360 on its own stand, and it actually looked better than the PS3 version.
well, the graphics on the much awaited GT5 seem to be nothing special, and virtua tennis supposedly looks better than the PS3 version...... oh dear. they keep saying how the games on show are simply nothing new....just looks nicer. they really really dig the nintendo Wii and the Wiimote though.
and some nintendo Wii playtesting
