Re: Keyboard-Mouse control for consoles.
I don't get the obsession with keyboard and mouse - yes it's a great system for the PC, however it's far from perfect. The keyboard is a sloppy device for control, it's really all the mouse that makes the system shine. You have no analog control with the keyboard (meaning when you press a key such as "w" to move forward, you have only one speed (pressed = run, not pressed = don't move))
I see some sort of hybrid device offering the best of both worlds, but you're right about how the KB/mouse is pretty much confined to a desk environment and spending the resources on a hybrid control system for PC games doesn't make sense either (because the PC market is a free for all)
is FF12 going to be PS2 or 3?

That was my point, something akin to the belkin nostromo on a lap pad type thing. Never asked nor wanted a full keyboard mouse setup, just something where I had more options (Ala WASD) and the precision of the mouse for aiming. I just dont understand why console developers are so against something like this. I know it would give those who used it an advantage, over traditional gamepads, in some games. But its like they are not making something better, because people are afraid to try it. I dont know any top 3d shooter players who use a gamepad. And with strategy games and RPGs getting more and more popular on consoles I see even more reason to create something like this. Ahh well I can always hope. (Mainly because the dang PC is getting expensive on me to update often, and consoles have finally caught up in the graphics dept., now just add the control system I have grown to love, please? )
How hard could it be to get a mouse device to act as a joystick and a couple of buttons on the controller - and the improved "keyboard" portion to act as the rest of the controller?

Wii for the Wiin
FTW
Anyway the PS3 has a ripped off motion sensor with less than full 3D motion...plus outrageous prices :S
FTW X2.....despite my Bill Gates comment neither him nor Sony shall be getting my money. It'll be Wii all the way. I've always loved the innovation that comes from Nintendo and nintendo is what I grew up on.
I think they realize that some people, especially those of us who've been gaming for 15-20 years(I'm 21 now and first starting playing NES at age 5) want something different from video games, we dont always want the action bloody FPS run around hair trigger finger twitching games, we want something that will make us go wow that was FUN and innnovative. Something that MS and Sony dont have for me since when I look at the lineup for 360 and PS3 all i see is lots of rehashs of old ideas and sequels....no fun for me.
I've also been gaming for most of my life (just over 18 years now) and have grown up with the likes of Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Commodore, Amstrad, Amiga, Sony & Microsoft. Now at the dizzy age of 22 I find the games on Nintendo's machines just too cutesy for me. I'm not into kids games, i'm not into cell shaded graphics, i'm not intogames like Resident Evil either. I am into the likes of Final Fantasy, GTA, Gran Turismo etc or in other words games aimed mostly at the 16-31 age group (18+ in some cases). Nintendo have lost me as a customer but i'll play it round a mates if I want to play it.
Gyro... I really hope you can turn it off (like you could Dual Shock).
The Premium PS3 package is cheaper than expected (for the UK) as most expected a £499 price tag, instead we get £350 & £425. All in all quite reasonable.
actually those prices, if true (link? or have you converted? the US prices are supposed to convert straight over into euros ie $599 = 599 euros) then thats actually not too bad a mere £75 extra for the full blown deal, ill definately pick one up at some point, maybe not right away, ill wait till after christmas or something
i want to buy a new car first much better that the simulated stuff

It has been done, it sucks. One thing to keep in mind when talking about the PC style interface is that you are dealing with a singular analog device and everything else is digital. Of the least advanced control setup on the last gen consoles there were four analog inputs.

Just grab a Wii and an Xbox for $600, 2 for the price of one there...
Wii+Xbox360=PS3 in price
Wii>Ps3
Xbox360>PS3
Do the math.
