am I the only guy who thinks boxing is well deserving of #1? go to a gym and find the smallest guy in there and box with him for 3 3 minute rounds. Assuming he doesn't knock you out, you'll be lucky if you can lift your fists above your waist. There is a tremendous amount of skill and physical conditioning that are required in this sport.

second as far as baseball goes...nobody gives those guys enough credit. I'll name 3 players who were at the top of the game in one sport and ranged from slightly above average to downright terrible in pro baseball.

Bo Jackson slightly ( above avg )
Deion Sanders ( average )
Michael Jordan ( terrible...maybe worst ever? )

K1: SO hardcore. I saw once a fight where he continued to fight although his forearm was broken. The other guy hit him again full power in his broken forearm and then he just couldn't take it anymore.

Biking: Bleh, with all that doping and stuff.

And yeah, boxing is really hardcore too, try to hold up your fists for 3 minutes, always expecting you have to block the next punch. That uses some insane energy. I tried boxing with gloves against my brother, after about 1 minute always punching, we were already really tired.

Formula One is the toughest endurance sport imo, 3-5g of pressure on your head for 2 hours.

Stupid list, just made by idiots who know nothing about sports.

Soccer is one of the most demanding sports, theres no substitution, no timeouts and you are running for about 90 minutes.

I've played tennis, basketball and those games are jokes compared to soccer. Baseball??? A lot of fat players, how could this be demanding? Just stupid.

Well, basketball, baseball and tennis have games everyday sometimes, but soccer is just 2 games a week.

It's not the toughest on your short bursts of energy like hockey or football, but a 4-day tourny in rough weather will beat the sh!t out of you like nothing else. (imagine sitting in a poorly coushioned chair free falling 5-6ft on a concrete floor repeatedly for 3-4 hours a day) pro-golf should be at the bottom of the list, at worst you pull a shoulder/back muscle.

I used to play football, baseball, and ran cross country in high school, and gorilla basketball with friends during the summer, and occasionally played golf on the weekends. None of these where as tough as fishing a 1-day bass tournament. (I fished in the pro-am division of anglers choice while in college)

Hmmm...What bass tournament has 5-6ft waves? You just described a fishing derby that took place in a Huriccane!!!

I first saw this thread and thought "this list is going to suck". That is until I found my sport inserted at #2. And I agree, boxing and hockey should go hand in hand, so I guess techinically I have skills in both the top two spots!

my list would be, (assuming competitive and things I've actually done)
soccer (way too exhausting)
kick-boxing (freestyle martial arts type, and my favorite....got the scars to prove it )
boxing (no tko bs, knock him the fvck out for real or let him call match over)
bass fishing (not the pansy go out cat fishing with your grandpa stuff)
street hockey (I imagine real hockey to be way harder)
football
basketball
cross country running (haven't actually run a marathon 8mi. was my farthest run)
cycling
baseball
board games (like checkers)
golf (above board games if you actually caddy for yourself)

all it takes is 20-25mph winds for 6ft crests on a large lake. been there in 20F weather for 3 of 4 days after a cold front on richland chambers resevoir. so dasm cold we had to dunk our reals in the lake to melt the ice. (I've done that on several tourny's but only on one that windy)

Ok, I definately feel rugby should be far higher than this. I play for the UCSB club team, we finished second in our western division, only to Cal Poly (helluva team)
To play rugby is to play football, wrestle, run track, and grab nutsacks all at once. We play 2, 40 minute halves, straight through with a few minutes at the half. That's nonstop insanity, brought to you in 40 minute blocks. until you get out there and do it you won't understand.
Its an amazing sport though, the subtle nuances involved, expressed through motions of 250 pound muscle masses will keep you awake for sure. In one game, we were down at UCLA playing... both me and a friend of mine from my same dorm were playing together, and we both went for the same tackle on an impending ucla goonie... so essentially we collided on this tackle, his head doing directly into mine on my temple, thank god i was wearing a scrum cap, and needless to say ucla dude went down also. but my friend got a concussion, i got my bell rang severely (a minor concussion no doubt), and the game was won, on a side note.
so i guess i've ranted long enough about rugby, but i have to say it is a truly grueling test of physical capacity that will own you if you're not careful.

But seriously, lets think about your more average cyclists. Where is that video of two cyclists getting into a "fight"? I put fight in quotes because I've seen pillowfights with more damage done.
Hehe...true. The average cyclist is about 5'8" and weighs maybe a buck-forty. Not exactly a bruiser.

pro-golf is at the bottem only when they have a cart. I mean, after all, they only have to swing the club 70-80 times! (18 or more of which are putts!). A fisherman swings his fishing pole to cast far more times.

I might have to load up Kazaa and find that movie clip.... it's great. Much like that video on "english karate". Lots of windmilling, few hits, and even less damage.

Seen it. It is pretty funny.

Of course, not all cycling fights are so harmless. A buddy of mine got sucker-punched after a race by this dumbass who was "pissed about how his team raced" or something and ended up needing surgery for a fractured skull.

Maybe your typical roadie
You'd be surprised; your average cross-country MTBer is about the same size. It pays to be relatively small and have a good power-to-weight ratio in cycling.

LOL! Tell me about it.

270lbs going up a climb with not enough power (read dead weight) = no fun.
