BTW: In all seriousness i would try to get to that vent and maybe put some foam in front of it with slits so the vent still works. My gramps had the same thing happen and the only thing you can do is cover up holes with cauke, get a bird net or use some foam.

Woodpeckers are great. I'm definately not a treehugger, greenie, or PETA supporter but to kill woodpeckers because they mistakenly tap on your metal vent is stupid and irresponsible.

I think some of the pecking is done to attract mates, not just look for bugs. I think they do this because hammering on a metal vent is much louder then hammering on a tree. Gives them a better chance of getting laid
