Here's a long shot... RC5 client for an AS/400?

I have one at the office doing nothing, and another to be decommissioned with 6 months. Anyone heard of a client for this platform (OS/400)?

There may not be an RC5 client for it, but there is a SETI client for it!
It also has a fairly extensive readme.

Ken_g6 - I'm not at the correct rev of the OS, and I doubt that I could get the company to spring for both an upgrade to V4R4 *AND* the PASE software option! Hope the RC5 client (if it ever comes to be) will not have as stringent requirements! Otherwise, I would have been all over that!

I'm still waiting for networkman to weigh in on this one. He has an AS/400 in his garage, and so far the authorities have done nothing, LOL. ; ) I was under the impression he said there was a client... maybe I misunderstood him.

Sorry no, I'm not a programmer.. I don't have the skill set or the patience for programming; I was told that there was an RC5 client for the machine a few months back. Also, my AS/400 is one of the older white/beige units, not one of the newer black ones. I have a contact who's promised to give me a hand in getting it running, but his company keeps him working overtime on various projects.. he's the lead programmer and one of three people at the company who know the AS/400 platform better than they know their wives.

heh heh... that's the only way to know the AS/400! We've got a 510 as our production machine running V3R7M0 and a 170 running V4R3M0 as our testing platform doing nothing. I'd love to get the 170 cracking!

Hehe; I'd love to see a client for that platform too: I've got 2 720's working here, and a couple of 600's abroad.

What the heck is an AS/400? (need specs and stuff).

Check out www.as400.ibm.com It's a midrange platform that succeeded the System/38. It is terribly undermarketed by IBM and pretty much unknown by anyone who doens't own one, but check out monster.com or any other board and do a search on AS/400 and see what comes up. As a result of IBM not being terribly agressive in marketing this machine, there are (relatively) not a lot of folks learning the platform.

Hey, why don't you run Seti until D.net comes up with a client for that platform? Beats doing nothing.

I'm on the wrong version of the OS, and a required component (PASE) is not installed. IBM is not very kind when it comes to pricing upgrades of the OS. Seeing as how we are phasing out the machines, there is no way I could write a business case for spending the money, especially as we have spent 2+ million on Oracle and HP Unix machines. I have the client for those, but haven't convinced the network administrator to let me run it until we go live... but I'm still working on him!
