I think they are not going to release anymore unless you pre-order the game...

I'm done playing this game soon as they charge money for it. It's not worth $30.

Is it that bad?

It's good but considering the alternatives (DotA, LoL) are cheaper, it's a tough sell. If they made preorder price 20 and retail 30, I'd consider it more strongly

DotA is cheaper? Last time I checked Warcraft 3 costs $40.

For many people (like me), it's a sunk cost. I already bought war3 years ago, so there's no incremental cost to playing DotA. I'd agree if we're talking about a person who hasn't played either game (and thus owns neither). I'd also imagine you could get war3 for less than 40 if you had a coupon or cashback.

Yep... I never bought WC3 with the intention of playing DOTA. Also, pretty sure you can get it for $30.

Well I went on the LoL site because I got an invite off them and the preorder is $30, the same as HoN, so I wouldn't call LoL cheaper at all. I'm considering buying it since I already put over 50 hours into this game, which is much more time I spent on other games I paid more for...

I played HoN for a little bit last night. First impression is that it is exactly like DOTA just with different graphics and a few minor things that were different. To be perfectly honest I was able to do better in HoN since the hotkeys, items, etc. was so similar to DOTA I was able to adapt very quickly. LoL has different hotkeys for things (simple stuff like attack ground) so I was having a lot more trouble with it. So far I like it though, I'll be playing much more over the weekend.

Are you going to buy it?

I've only played like 88 games so far. My average game play is around 33minutes per game... so, 88*33=2904minutes... 48.4 hours. So, I've probably played this game around 50-54 hours.

No different than DOTA I guess... Except I've played over a 1000 dota games I am sure... And those are usually 40 minutes+

I've had the worst luck EVER. I've went from 33-29 to
http://hon.slawed.net/view.php...&View+Stats=View+Stats! 40-49. I'm losing so many games because I just get paired up with the shittiest teams and then the other team is stacked with good players and they are friends. :'( I hate it.

I have 79 hours into it, so I'm almost certainly gonna buy it.

The game is fun but it seems very unbalanced. Characters like Moon Queen and Predator always seem to annihilate. I was in a game where a Predator took out the entire team by himself WHILE being damaged by Moon Queen and Magmus's LVL3 ult's at the same time he was being attacked by our entire team. I'm not sure how but each of his attacks healed him around 20% of hit HP each attack. A lot of the balance like no orb effects stacking in DotA really makes a difference. That and a lot of the counters to these characters have been reconfigured so much that there are fewer counters than their should be. Maybe after some more heroes and balancing it will become a lot more fun, until then I'll just stick with DotA more often.

EDIT: 999 posts. Zomg.

I don't think the game itself is unbalanced as the player base is. It seems like the playerbase is divided into DOTA pros and noobs (such as myself). I love the game, but almost every other noob game I join there is an experienced DOTA player or two that absolutely destroys everyone. Kind of frustrating when you are trying to figure out how to play properly

I watched a friend play this the other day and am looking forward to getting a chance to try it out here soon. I've been a Dota player for a few years now and this is something that excites me. Hopefully it manages to at least maintain the semi balance Dota was usually able to keep.

Update: They added in Vengeful Spirit last night, and are supposedly working on adding in Spectre (which I'm really looking forward to, as I loved playing Spectre).

In ways this game can be hilarious, as far as the built in chat, because you end up having some dude fly into nerd rage and yell at his team. I also like how it keeps people accountable to disconnects and basically discourages some of the more anti-social behavior that is prevalent when playing DOTA on b.net.

I am really beginning to love this game. I tried League of Legends for a while and the differences with attack hotkeys etc. got to me and I would find myself getting angry. With HoN I find it to be the perfect transition over from DOTA. After playing for a week or so I'm really getting to love the better graphics, and the style of building items is better as well since it lays out the recipe in one spot to buy the subcomponents.

EDITED to remove email D:

BTW, if you join s2games facebook fan page, they often have key give aways... I remember they were giving away keys once they hit 10,000 and 15,000 fans, adn that was a while ago.

BTW, I'm a DOTA fan and pretty much only play THR games (throneit.com), a free, public semi competitive dual-realm league with detailed stats tracking. While HoN looks great, I'm not a great fan of the changes mostly because I'm very resistant to change, not because the game is bad.

Finally got my psr up to a decent level where I can start joining the higher rank required games, and it suddenly got a LOT more fun. It's an awesome game when everyone knows what they're doing and works well as a team.
