is there a wiki or a how to for the heroes? I'm not sure which ones to run from and which to attack. Are the heroes basically copies of war3 heroes? Also how do you use the items when you get a set of armor?

EDIT: is it possible to play this SP against the computer or w/o other heroes?

I just wish they'd kept the DotA names for everything. I don't know why they bothered to change them when everything's pretty much the same.

Now I have to learn everything all over again, heh.

Edit: It is fun otherwise, though!

Great game, I'll link some guides when I get home. The learning curve (for people who haven't played dota) is pretty rough, and the other players aren't terrible accommodating.
If you spend some time learning and playing maybe 5-10 games you'll be up to speed.

found one handy site. Though they don't have guides for all the heroes.

Copyright infringement protection. Many DotA heroes have names that belong to Blizzard (such as Pandaren Brewmaster), other game publishers (Rikimaru), anime creators and other third parties.

Not to mention some DotA names are downright moronic, Pudge? Give me a break.

Note: To read these guides you need beta access. Of course if you don't have beta access there wouldn't be much of a point in reading the guide so...

I'll stick to Demigod for now because for one, I'm not signing up for Facebook for this.

Besides I'm still having great fun with Demigod.

My stats are so much worse than yours, but in my defense my first few games I was clueless, then the next few I was paired with inept noobs vs stacked teams. Since then I've gone shuffle team only and done much better.

They need to zoom the camera out a lot more, that was my main issue with DoTA and while they improved the graphics the camera is still zoomed in like its 1996.

The zoom in Demigod definitely spoiled me too. While it's a nice break from Demigod, but I'm not sure if I would buy it. Especially since League of Legends is also coming out, which looks a bit more original.

I never played dota, but was the shop in that game also so convoluted? Titles like "initiation" don't do a terribly good job at telling me what kind of items I'll find in there. If I'm upgrading my marchers to enhanced marchers, I shouldn't have to look for it in a different tab.

I think they normally hand out invites to those that are in the beta on a regular basis. Or at least they were. I've been in a while but i have no idea how to check for invites. They have no actual homepage for HoN, just forums.

The original DotA shop was horrible, all the tabs you see were all different shops in DotA and they had even less intuitive names, you also couldn't open recipes and buy the ingredients in one place like you can in HoN.

The HoN shop is not perfect but it's pretty great, the categories are fairly intuitive (initiation means the items you should "initiate" your hero with, then you have attack, protective, support and morph attacks) and you can click on recipes, see their ingredients and buy them right there, as well as the total cost of the recipe.

DotA, being a WCIII map, was a total mess in terms of interface.

The heroes are too small. I don't know if this was the intentional but it's hard to differentiate heroes. What's worse is the hero color is even more ambiguous and I find myself alt-ting like crazy during a battle to figure out who is friend or foe. They all look like eldar from Dawn of War. A charactor I figured would look like the Crystal Maiden (based on icon) is just another androgynous Eldar character with a model that looks 99% like the next hero . I mean, THQ made a killing with DoW/CoH but those are macro RTS games and the units NEED to be small and uniform.

The spell effects remind me of Neverwinter Nights...as in...ancient. Another thing that reminds me of the godforsaken Aurora Engine is lack of engine optimization. I have to underclock my GPU significantly during the game or else the card starts pulling close to 90 degrees. Considering Crysis on Very High was doing fine in the 80s this just sorts of makes me chortle. The engine is clearly doing something completely useless behind the scenes.

Another thing that bothers me is that base defenses are completely worthless. Even at a lower level you can waltz in through 3 towers to chase and kill someone, then waltz back out.

And...you can change projectile targets MID FLIGHT. It makes denies exceedingly easy. It's been reduced too, "do it if you want to do it" because it takes zero timing skill like in DOTA.

If I had to describe this game in the shortest amount of words, I'd say, it plays like a Dawn of War DOTA mod.
