MOBA. Basically Blizzard took all the main characters from all of their franchises and put them together in one big Battle Arena. You can be anyone from Illidan, to Diablo, to Raynor.

Pretty sure it's only enabled in the BNet client if you've been accepted/invited. You might not have signed up if you 'won' an invite through your friendslist - there was a promotion blizzard was doing for testers where if they were level 20 before a certain date in November they were randomly entered into a drawing where they could win invites for their entire friendlist.

I got invited like two weeks ago. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. I feel like there's still something missing - I like gold/items being removed and the effect it has on balance but at the same time it makes it feel like once you find a build you enjoy for a given character, it turns out the same way almost every time since you can't really make changes without noticeably altering your character - there's not really a way to enhance what it can do without also changing it, it's kind of a zero-sum game. Which gets a little stale imo.

I agree that it's missing something. But it is still in Alpha. I don't like how Blizz has allowed the spending on real money in Alpha though. Seems petty to me.

I played 5 games last night and it's a lot of fun, but it does seem to be missing stuff. My main MOBA is league of legends and I clearly will compare to that since I've spent so much time on that game.

My buddy asked me what I thought and I told him if you played Counter Strike for a long time then switched to Team Fortress 2, you'll have more fun in TF2 although it could never compete with counter strike. That is how I feel HoS will be with DOTA and LOL out there.

I don't think so. It's linked to my battle.net account. I'll check when I get home, I don't have my authenticator on me. I just don't like MOBAs.

I've been in Alpha for about a month now. It's pretty fun and casual game. I like the fact that all maps are about objective.
Uther and Arthas are my favorite characters.

A couple friends of mine appear to have just gotten invites over the last couple days, might be worth checking your email for anyone checking.

One of them alleges that if you're friends with someone who is level 20+ in game you get an invite, but I'm pretty sure that was only a temporary promotion and only a chance of doing so. Admittedly I did just hit 20 pretty recently and they just got invited pretty recently but I'm thinking it's coincidental.

Kerrigan is pretty fun, she's got a great set of abilities. I still find myself enjoying support champs more than anything else though.

So a few more of my friends finally got access and we've been able to field five people for a couple rounds. It definitely makes the game more engaging - they're still learning the maps and characters and such but HotS' focus and strengths (more pvp, less pve in essence) certainly shine more when you're coordinating and talking.

I think the character building could stand to be a bit more flexible (the whole zero-sum thing I mentioned still stands) and I feel that assassin characters (most notably the stealth ones) burst damage is still a bit much. Other than that it's in a pretty good place already but I haven't played solo in a while and probably won't, looking forward to playing in a party more though.
