So, Hershey's is trying to market air bubbles in their candy as a good thing. Saw it in a commercial and at first I thought it was like Crackle or something where they put crisped rice or maybe even something like 3 Musketeers, but no, its just air.

The HERSHEY’S milk chocolate taste you love now comes gently blended into a light, airy texture. Feel each bubble melt effortlessly in your mouth as you savor new HERSHEY’S KISSES AIR DELIGHT Aerated Milk Chocolate.

JHumeC. Feel the air bubbles melt?

I guess at least they're not trying to push it as being healthier.

Next step is to just hollow it out.

Or... "Our mixer is seriously screwed up and we don't feel like fixing it."

If you think that eating a Hershey's Kiss requires too much effort, maybe you should just stop trying.

M&Ms without the chocolate.

"Delicious, light candy shell! Fewer calories! Low fat!"

Dude, believe in the air.

Best chocolate bars ever.

Why'd you link to Wikipedia when there's nothing there?

I'm actually just poking fun at Hershey's. I don't think its a bad idea, its just kinda funny. Depends if they give you the same weight or if they stiff you and just give you the same number of candies as the others. I bet its so they could save money on the assorted bags.

Plus if I'm not mistaken ice cream (at least the mass produced stuff) is similar.

Sadly, I actually probably would prefer it for that reason. Its not effort so much as the dense chocolate just makes chewing it worse. Regular kisses actually hurts my teeth after a few. I can't eat anything with caramel in it just gets stuck in my teeth (the little Brach's cubes are like torture).

I just tried one yesterday, not really a fan. The bubbles give the chocolate an odd texture and somewhat change the mouthfeel. Thumbs down.

I had commented about them awhile ago in another thread and all you are doing is paying for air so wonder who the genius is that marketed them.

It's like when they "introduce" a new larger bag of chips for more money but it contains the same amount of chips as a smaller bag.

Doesn't actually work that way. The process has to be 100% repeatable.
It only has to be repeatable long enough to do a good production run.
"Limited edition! Once they're gone [the machine completely breaks], they're gone for good!"

And I've seen broken machines that produce very repeatable results - the stuff that's generated is screwed up the same way each time.

As far as troubleshooting is concerned, consistent problems are nearly always preferable to intermittent or chaotic issues.

I distinctly remember trying aerated chocolate before, but not that particular one. It does make the texture a lot smoother if done right, but from the pictures of those, there's too much air.

My wife is a First-Class Chocoholic and her reaction to the commercial for this product was, "Why would I want to pay for air in chocolate? That just means less chocolate for the same money!"

I guess you can't fool the true chocolate lovers.

Maybe they should try using a specific gas and market it that way. People pay a premium for specific gases.
Fill your tires with nitrogen, windows with argon, flash tubes with neon, soda with carbon dioxide.

So what gas goes best with chocolate?

OK, whipped yogurt seems pretty dumb to me (unless you're referring to yogurt drinks). But whipped butter and whipped cream cheese have a very real advantage and to disparage those is indicative of your lack of experience with both butter and cream cheese.

i'm sorry, where did i say they didn't have uses/advantages?
i can make my own whipped butter or whipped cream cheese if i need to, as can probably most anyone. im not questioning the validity of using said product... its the same as anything else, you are paying for convenience.

i'm talking about marketing products....if they can do it for butter/yogurt/cream cheese, they can do it for chocolate.

oh, and whipped yogurt: http://yoplait.com/products/yoplait-whips-yogurt

Sounds like an Aero bar, which is quite delicious, particularly the mint varietal.

It's still nasty Hershey's 'chocolate' made without cocoa butter. They don't even come close to Aeros.
