I'm disappointed but not surprised.

The folks at nVidia pulled a fast one on everyone with trying to build suspense through their various marketing gimmicks (Read: Focus Group), but how long could that really last? Looks like nVidia felt delaying the release of this part was the best thing to do because why ruin the surprise early by actually releasing something this insubstantial as their flagship part? At least this way, through delays and marketing gimmicks, they were able to sell out of the GTX200 series of cards and not get the negative media of having the Fermi actually reviewed and seen for what it is.

What Fermi is is something nobody in their right mind should have been waiting 6+months for. The "I can't show proof, but it's definately something worth waiting for and worthwhile" shtick that the focus members have been perpetuing on the various message boards across the net is a disservice to the rest of us. Yes, that upsets me. It's disappointing.

Wow. Can't say I disagree with you. Well said. While the GTX480 may be hotter and less efficient, it still runs games (except crysis) faster than the HD5870. So overall I consider it single GPU king, even in lieu of Nvida's ill tactics.

The guy who saved those pictures mentioned the following:
Dirt 2 demo was used, so no DirectX11 for GF100, not sure about Cypress.
They used 10.2 drivers

Not sure about the Dirt2 thing, but the first thing I checked was the drivers hexus used and they were 10.3a

the HD5870 closes significantly with increasing resolution. The hell.

And that's with 50+% smaller frame buffer. Wait for the 2GB version...

I wonder what the power consumption was @ 800 Mhz GPU clock?

(This card might be pretty interesting for water cooling)

Well at that speed (especially if you up the voltage) you should probably be more limited by the power being pushed to the card than by just the temperature itself if you use watercooling. How much power over 300W can a card with 300W worth of connectors pull before it goes over the limit? 350?

Wow. I can't believe the day is finally here. After 6 months of procrastinating, boondoggling, equivocating, and misleading, the NDA finally lifts...it feels almost surreal.

Again no, Hexus used 10.3a, first thing I checked when I saw the review go up.

Aye, that is what I read too.. but if they did use the demo it is possible they were comparing dx11 5000 series numbers to dx9 400 series.. we will have to wait for anand who uses in game recordings.

Dual GPU Fermi?

Does anyone think Nvidia might be using GF102 (384 CUDA cores @ full yield) for that?

I'm looking forward to Anands review.

It looks like Fermi needs a die shrink for the design to shine. Heat and power draw are obviously at their design limits.

I bet these would OC really nice on water.
