How feasible would it be to drop like a rebuilt V8 or something into a Hyundai Accent? How much other sh!t would have to get yanked? Am I just crazy? (well I have been up for 31 hours and counting..........._

hahahah not all that possible unless you have lots of time and money, and a small V8

I saw a 340 Dodge small block in a 96 Neon once.. I think it CAN be done...... :Q

Well what would require all the money? The whole thing have to be gutted? And the money isn't that big of a deal. I saw a 2002 Accent advertised for $4295 here. Spend up to $5000 on new engine + other crap and Id still be WAY under regular new car price and have an ASSLOAD more power. If it is at all feasible, I may just have to do it.

it's feasible i suppose
ever think of going to something like a V6 instead?
put in a Nissan 3.0L V6 or something, excellent excellent engine with gobs of power, and more likely to fit!

the main thing that costs money is having to re-do alot of the car for retro-fitting, AND if you can't do that all yourself, paying someone who can!

that v8 will "TEAR UP" the entire chassis of that little accent.

thats why alot of these power plant swaps into a little car are used with hondas since they are small yet strong little cars... the i highly doubt the drivetrain on an accent will take anything more than 200 horses.

It's not possible, and if it were possible the vehicle would handle even worse than it does stock! Can you say understeer it would cost much less to turbocharge the existing engine.

Well, depending on the engine, its not just going to be 5k for it...

A LS1 + tranny will run you 6k. Then you have to get all the measurements on the engine bay done, assuming it would fit. Then you'd have to get everything custom welded, new mounts fabricated, new axels, a completely NEW suspension.

You'd be looking at a good 4-5k just to prep the car for a engine like that. This also doesn't mention the time it would take and all the parts you would have to fabricate (custom dash, ect...)

Its not worth it.

That is actually not a hard conversion, the Miata has the space, and is RWD. The Accent is a FWD economy car, there is no way to fit the gearbox and diff in there. It would have to be converted to RWD...He's better off buying a used Camaro or something equally primitive.

Well, with the money you are talking about (10K plus easy) you could do some really wicked things to an engine that will fit in that car. Hyundai used a lot of Mitsubishi parts in the past, maybe you could find a used 2.0 turbo from an Eclipse (195 stock) and mod that. 270-300 hp easy...and it would be an easy fit! Now, getting that power to the road would be difficult.

You wanna go fast for cheap? (well, in a car?)

Buy a used 91-94 Toyota MR2 Turbo (~7k-14k), replace the turbo (t3/t4 hybrid ~1.5k), get a boost controller ($300), internal upgrades ($700), bolt ons ($1k), suspension and rims and tires ($3k), and you'll be hauling balls all over the place. Not to mention, you'll look good too

Ah hell 12 megs??? Why can't my DSL be here today??? Three more freakin days. "Rackafrackasumma....."

Actually, I have been inspired by "Relentless" I don't know how many of you have seen her, but
she hauls wicked ass. Actually, relentless is in kind with my current car, an '88 Aries, but I don't think my gal would be too happy with a mod like that. So, when I have to replace, Im gonna do it in style............well, maybe not so much style, but crazy AT fashion anyway......

go to bed, ur thinking too crazy!

that won't just not be worth it at all, get into an accident if you drive in snow, hold on because that much weight in a car not made for it would be uncontrollable and a totaled boat anchor. All new electronics would be necessary and good luck getting it street legal

Dude that site rocks, I love Daytona's and 2.2 and 2.5 Turbo Dodges... I used to be a member on the SDML and had gone to a couple SDAC meetings.

with all the money trying to get the engine to purr with the rest of your car...
you might as well grab a brand new corvette.

and even if you make the mods... your weight distribution is gonna be something like 70/30 and knowing how you have to convert to rearwheel drive... your car is gonna have all the power, but absolutely no traction in dry/wet/snowy weather! NONE!!!... like ZILCH... NADDA!!! as in my tricycle will accelerate from 0-20 faster than you!
